Nice turnout, 2 Grants, Raw-photo(?), Globe and Mike. Grant M and Mike really ripping the waves apart, the rest of us trying to imitate them. Sailed till it was dark. Typical winter IV, gusty and nice waves along the shore, 2-3 foot. Well worth the effort. Great session.

:D Dunkinguy and I arrived at 11:30 to find Jose' OP on his 4.7 so we rigged our small sails. By the time I got on the water it was nukin and I was wishing I owned a 3.2 and a much sinkier board. Pretty much survival sailing for the first hour or so then dropped a little bit overall but still with mega gusts as more guys arrived. The tide was coming in fast and the nice swell just north of launch started to set up and the parking area started to fill up as more and more striking teachers showed up after pic ... (more)

wish I was on the island for this day :( Weeds not too bad, 4 of us waiting around for wind to become steady for 2 hrs, finally played a bit before it got quite dark and gates getting locked, maxed out time. Watching CB cam in parking lot & crying a little but I did get a sesh, however whimpy  a few heli & sailing backwards plays, fun in hipdeep water, nice shower available at this spot

:D Spent a fair bit of time deciding what to rig with BWD et al. Finally Jason went out with 5.8/91L, and with his very powered ride in sight, I decided 6.0. Sailing was good, but very, very soft in places. One good downwind walk from a "lack of wind", and some nice chop hopping when things were up. Caught 2 smallish waves on inbound tacks..... :)

:D :D An unusually flat day at Columbia. Met James at the beach, and spent the first ~2 hours on the GO/6.0 (no forward loops :)). When things kicked up, had a fine session of 6.0/95L. :) :) Thanks to Dave for the new camera with the zoom!!!

Arrived to a veritable horde of sailers at CB. Launched at about 3pm and the wind peaked up beautifully to 20 knots for about 40 minutes. Totally sweet dialled in session. Lovin' it.

Fun but cold on the feet and hands. Time for the neoprene foot desenzitizerz. The wind just never quite came up as strong as we'd all hoped. Landed one forward dry. Felt great! Pitiful backloop forced attempts off of small ramps. C'mon, Columbia, serve up the Hate, not the Mild Irritation! Well, I'm glad I have a 5.8 to play with at least.

Thanks for the hard work on the webcam, Dave!

Spent most of my time installing the zoom cam and a new weather station computer. Had fun on the water, but no hate. Cold.

Stayed overnight for the gale that never developed. Missed out on sailing - spent too much time deciding what to rig. MM5 fairly accurate for CB for Sat/Sun/Mon.

Didn't quite live up to the forecast but was fun at times. Went to smaller board later on for 1/2 hr. or so. The wind was puffy and dropped off several times so we had to go to the beach several times and then relaunch a bit later. Stayed overnite for the predicted gale on Mon. that totally missed CB again. All the strong wind appeared to be out in the middle of the straight. Looking at the IR sat. shots the track seems to be too far north. George W. must be messing with the weather. :D

A little marginal on the 5.8 until the last hour or so. Had fun on the big stuff cruising, chop-hopping and working on tacks and helis. When it picked up I got in a couple of table-tops, two 3/4 backloops and one forward attempt with my usual mid-air bail-out. Gotta commit  .

I should have lauched at Mill Bay when I saw it blowin'. Much better conditions here. I saw that some were out in 5 m sails at Island view but not many were planing. Strong gusts and current. This is my 3rd time at IV and I haven't been impressed once. Just gusty and looks stronger than it is or the wind line is off shore.

:D Arrived to find things beginning for BWD, Winddoctor, Kus etc.... They spent the morning tidying the beach and it seems contemplating "bootie soup" while waiting for the wind. Things were OK for a short session, but really softened quickly. Spent a while milking the wind/waves on the big sea trash (and doing the walk for exercise...). Most sailors left, then with a few left (BWD et.al.) it finally arrived. Nice session on the move/6.0. LOTS of rather uncontrolled and spooky airtime (like, lets say, ... (more)

:D The 9:45 AM beach tour showed that ~18-20 kn were blowing at Oar Rd. Got the Move 95 and for a lark, the old Sea Trash. The wind seemed to be softening, so I sailed the Sea Trash for increased flotation and just to check it out. Nice planing and big waves (the sea trash is decidedly not a wave board, and likes to pierce waves rather than ride them :(. After the wind died, headed to Columbia. Sole Sailor until I packed up, then one big board showed up to have some uphaul practice... :)

This is what you can do at CB when it is not windy:

    -look at Bean's hole.

    -watch for bears.

    -watch fishing Eagles.

-wait for big loose women to come by with big ol' warm hands

-watch matdog pick the beach clean and then watch him kite alllllll day.

-invent new windsurfing moves, the best was the amoeba (tail first forward).

-make foot soup in your booties...this takes at least 4 hours of wet foot in bootie.

    -shiver about a million times.

-there was some talk about spooning each other for warmth in ... (more)
