Very nearly perfect conditions. Pretty flat inside and rollers outside. Wing pumping improved as I quit stalling it and pulled it into the wind to create proper flow. Pumping the board improving too. And made one jibe where I came out switch and powered the wing. Dropped back in after a couple of seconds and switched feet but getting there. Lots of dry touchdown gybes. Everyone all smiles!! Got enough hardware to get the smaller board working.

Started with a kitefoil in Ross Bay and then switched to the other side after about 45 minutes. Spent another 45min on the windward side of Clover. Lots of water moving around and the wind seemed less powerful than it looked. Really wanted to go for a twin tip so rigged a 12m and spent another hour with the kite pulling hard but providing limited lift. All good though - amazing afternoon away from work after having missed every good session so far this week

Started on a 4m despite there being little to speak of in the bay. Worked out great for just under an hour. Had to step up to a 5m for the remainder of the 2+ hour session. THe 980 takes off in almost anything but the swell was getting mixed up in the current, moguls. Got a couple of tacks and a jibe completed which was good progress. Progress, learning.

Damn the 1000/205 is fun! Looked too light for the 4M and 1000 but hoped it would improve a bit. It did but the swell was a bit short and tightly spaced for riding. Fun dialling in the jumps but need to start working on raleys more, which feel much like windsurfing shuvits on my weak side (awkward). Fun day on the water, really enjoyed the Ross Bay side and had some fun playing in the swell off the point. Made the sketchy transit over to Cook St and played around there for a bit then headed in. What a difference a day makes! No inexplicable instability today, the big board handled the outside conditions with aplomb. I made about 6 or 8 jibes dry, if not flying all the way, great for keeping energy up. Found I couldn't go straight downwind for more than a couple of seconds even on bigass waves, I think I need more glide and a lighter board. But very happy!!!! New 4.0 is just lovely.

I gave Esq Lagoon a try on my friend Mike's recommendation and was rewarded with a fantastic day! I thought I'd do my usual big wing day but the building winds convinced me to go 5mX3. Great choice, closer to shore. Well overpowered 1km out in +20kt winds. Did a few fun runs before the high winds got me to switch to 4mX3. Another fine choice within 100m of shore or 1000m out. What a day! Started off a bit light with small waves so I cruised upwind to keep myself entertained. The swell slowly built off clover and after about an hour there were smooth and steep waves. The wind built and the swell got better and better. So fun.

Wind readings had me bail from work early. Wind was solid and waves were ok but got way better. Fun rides off Clover. Practiced a few heal side tacks and was rewarded with my first clean one. My best spring Ross Bay sesh this season. Cherry on the cake was a topless flash as I exited the water. Life is good!

Arrived for the afternoon session with MtnarG, Idefix, and Lance. Winds felt lightish so I went with the 6mX3. Winds built up and it was a slightly OP'd but was able to play in the swells by Clover. Winds continued to build so I switched to 5mX3. It was good for about 20min then the winds diminished so I went back to switch back to the 6m. Arrived to lull but pumped up the 5 when it looked to be filling in. Weird session, couldn't seem to get foiling then the foil was super unstable and I crashed often. Barely made the last beach, ooched past the rocks and fought kelp. Made double my walking goal on my watch in a double WoS ferrying the board and wing separately. The mast was thunking sometimes on the board during the walk. Found one screw missing and one track screw pulled right through the base plate slot and the base plate badly bent. ... (more)

Finished work early enough to be on the water for dusk patrol. Being back on the 4m and 1000 felt like being in a sports car after a bunch of light wind sessions! Head-on ramps made for some really fun jumping. Need to find the guts to start some rotations. Dreaming of front flips and backs but will they remain just dreams?? In the same conditions I'd be looping on the windsurf kit...

Showed up late for sunset session. Perfectly powered on the 5m for about 30 mins, absolutely LIT the next 30 mins. Some nice swell up on the shore at times. Followed Tweezer on one that looked waist high from behind. Finished up with wings and a pint at RB - great Monday.

Arrived to light winds again uh oh. Within about 20min it ramped up. Used the 4.5 then went to 3.5/1000 and had a solid hour with good swell. Wind ramped down a bit, came in and waited then finally had another hour on 4.5/1225. A bit tough to go from small gear to big. Tried to sail with tail cover still on- don't try it, it doesn't work well. Absolutely no birds out today which freaked me out a bit so no speed runs again.

Started the first half of the session on the Ross Bay side, really smooth in the flat'ish water. Decided to make the journey over to Cook St, the transit over Clover point was sketchy, really bumpy huge swell, trying really hard not to breach the foil and end up in the water. Ended up being way overpowered on the 7m when I got to Cook st, and overall challenging sea conditions to stay on foil.
