Headed East for quality - THe Wall delivers - head high rolling swell. Big Air. Hot. No tricks today just jumping and riding swells. No crowds early on, then folks started showing up.
Did a downwinder to Rufus....twice. Sailed as long as my blistered hands would allow, and then some. I cant imaginge we'll get a better day here than today was.
Liquid smoke on the water through the corridor on the way home - soem dude had the boards ripped off hs car ont he freeway by the "wind Gusts" sign.

After getting skunked and blinded in Ross bay, drove over to Cook and got out all by myself at first on the big board. Went right upwind, and then 15 minutes later, it was time to get the small board. Wind went wiggley for 5 minutes or so, then came in nice for a good hour of sunset sailing. Just Grant, Colin and me! 8) Saaweeet :P

On the water at 10am, smooth, creamy kiting. Really noticed that the wind was stronger up high. At times there was hardly a whitecap but plenty of wind up top.
Went out again at 5pm with Joe and Christina. Wind was stronger but "streaky". Almost took the new OR 12m out but maybe tomorrow.

Packed up in the drizzle and headed for the ferry. Caught the 10:30am ferry for the Island. Arrived in Nanaimo at about 12:20am. There is light rain at Cowitchan but some blue sky peeking through as well. Took it easy on the way to Nitinaht because I am wary of logging trucks. Met a couple on the way in as well as lots of speeding cars and trucks. I was surprised to see white caps on the lake since it is cloudy inland. Went to the breakwater to check the view of the tallships, then to ross bay to fly with the OR Team (and colin and swissmat too :wink: ). Perfectly steady wind made up for the gross grey skies. Tried a directional at the end of my session - Gybing(sp?) is Damn Hard! You Da Man, Trevor!

Started at 10am again in 12-15kts on the Formula and Severne Overdrive 8.5 for an hour then sailed the C2 6.5m and Carve 121 for the rest of the day except for using the Starboard Hypersonic 96 to set myself a new speed record at 52.5km/h and to race on....I love that board!! Went out on the Formula and Overdrive 8.5 again to finish off the day...Nice way to finish cruizing up to the island and Knob pt and back.....Love this set up!!

My first entry in this site and my first sail of the year. Grabbed Downwind Dave for a quick sesh on Nitinat and got to use my beloved gear. We had limited sailing time but used it all doing our version of slam head in water freestyle. Tried to remember how to carve-gybe, duck-gybe, sail-body 360s; double ducks and forward loops. Sad to say that of all those - perhaps my forwards are the least crappy. Truly I have stagnated. Was inspired by duncanguy and downwind Dave tossing Vulcans all over the place ... (more)
