Nice big gear planing evening. The wind was stronger on the E side of the bay, so much so that both adjustable outhauls needed to be cranked in to sail back (est. 22 knts?). I'm digging this new beach front place: cant wait for the first big SE blow to happen..... :)

A calm evening to practice clew first sailing and low speed jibes. First day sailing at the new digs on the beach. Mug the dog swam ~1/3 across Nanoose Bay, until he figured out that indeed a windsurfer is faster than the dog paddle. He also is comfortable on a Go board! Who isn't :D

Today looked much better than the last 3 days...wind took a while to build but eventually one could see caps below the log. Got on the water using the fanatic and 5.5 around 1:30 sailed solid until around 4:00 took a break and noticed wind slowing down so packed up to head home. Had a fun sail but still need more!

It cranked up at about noon. Went out for a couple of reaches on the GO and 7.5 but was overpowered. Took the 121 and 6.2 out and rode for about 2 to 2.5 hours fully powered up. Got one ride on the Kombat then it died quickly. Took the 7.5 and GO out and got off the water at 6:45!!! The last reach was up to the river and then a rocket fast downwind reach to the log pile. TOW: 6.5+ hours! A fantastic day.

should have used a 9m, but managed to hold it together on a 14m(just). Really lifty air(some scary high jumps). the windsurfers were on 5.8-5m sails, so my only explanation for that much wind is that there must be signifigantly more wind up top. Most people were out on 8m and even one 6m, with a few 9 or 10s.

LUCKY is how I feel. Got the last half of the windiest hour of the day, and it simply doesn't get smoother or liftier than that anywhere. Promissed myself I wasn't going to kite, but I couldn't miss wind like that. Used Duct tape on the foot, and watched Dave, Jan and Johny getting monster air with record breaking hang time while I set up. Had limited time, so I did backrolls, spin trans and grabs to get the most of my short time on the water. Then, like a reminder from the universe that I had to go, the wi ... (more)

Out to Gordos with Roger and his girlfriend, his first time this summer other than a short sesh with undiagnosed mono. Started great with 15-18 or so, I was powered 5.8, worries about overpowered on 7.5 unfortunately came to nothing as wind steadily died. One near-planing gybe on the big tank of a board (it keeps planing longer in less wind for sure!).

    What a week!! :D

I've been down on the Southern Oregon Coast this past week and sailed every day for at least 5 hrs. Waves were okay, but no real ground swell to speak of but "the rock" was still dumping. Happened to run into one rather famous professional windsurfer by the name of Josh Stone, photographer in tow, doing a west coast story for windsurfing mag. He throws the sickest, fastest, highest pushloops imaginable!!

Any local guys that want to joing me next trip??

    It is worth the drive!!

Went out on my 5.5 around noon. Had trouble staying on a plane came in for a while. Eventually around 3:00 or 4:00 the wind came up a little more consistently so I tried again on the 5.5 after 30 min or so began to slogg again. Came in grabbed Bobsons 6.5 and sailed nicely powered on that for another 45 min or so then slogged in on last run. Enjoyed the 6.5 very much while it lasted!

First time that I have ever been totally wound up on a 3.3 m sail and 69l board. Survival at it's worst. I should have kited at the marina, however, the poleskippers that I was with had a blast. It was interesting to sail in that much wind. I'm just guessing the wind speed. How much wind does it take to get out of control on a 3.3m sail?

My foot is Damn sore! Raw from too many wipeouts. Can't believe the good fortune of having three quality kiting days in a row, and evenings free to do other things. Completely the reverse from normal Cook Summers. Got out for a quick session with Sandra, missed (once again) the stronger winds that preceded our session, but it was steady and fun while we were out. Would have loved to stay, but off to another bbq!

A fairly mellow session for me. A bit gusty and holey but fun.

:) Not an epic day but quite fun high speed cruising on the outside for the first hour. Got on the water just as the wind was peaking and then it slowly backed off. Let pimphand have a mercy session on my gear.

A short session today. Not steady like yesterday but still fun. Good to see Cammie out again. Rob, I was trying to figure out what that loud "pop" sound was on the water. I figured it out only after I saw you!

:D Pretty good one! I had my first tack, first clew first waterstart one lousy front loop attempt ( not many ramps to launch ), a couple of port hops, few boomerang attempts. Pretty good!
