Well, I managed to score what the locals called a rare day at Jericho. I've never seen so many windsurfers excited about light wind before. We're pretty spoiled on the island :D

It was a nice place to sail though and you can't beat the grassy rigging area and sandy beach......oh and warm water too. The wind was a bit flukey though. It might have had something to do with the hole I punched in my lower panel - bent the knees a bit too much :( Overall, a pretty good time.

:D Arrived at 10am to find Sharky, Grant, Kenda, Mark and three dogs sitting on the beach by the fire with absolutely 0 wind. Within 10 mins it was blowing 5 kts and time to go and rig the big stuff....by the time I got the gear unpacked it was blowing 10kts and I thought better start with the 8.0m and formula board. 5 mins later it was blowing 15-18kts so I unpacked the Carve 121 and put on the 40cm fin. I was on the water by 10:45am and it was mostly sunny and really rather warm. It blew 15-20 for 2 hours ... (more)

not much wind predicted for today. But, the trades were predicted to shut down so I decided to grab some gear. Good thing, it turned into a really fun day. picked up a RRD freestyle wave 100L and 5.8 ezzy. the sail was again new in the bag. RRD board was somewhat slippery on the deck. shop complains that RRDs are slick from day one. could have worn booties but bare feet rules on maui. perfect freestyle day - steady wind. worked on upwind 360s and almost got a couple, falling in at the end. starte ... Kited around the corner for a while with Soos (wind was stronger over there) and came back to the regular beach. Sunny, warm, lifty and pretty quiet. Doesn't get much better for the kiters. :D

I spent last week down on the Oregon Coast looking at huge waves and 30+ knots of wind almost every day. I didn't take any gear so I was in huge need of a fix. Desperate as I was I thought I'd test the low end of my big gear. Conclusion: it needs more wind.

PLaned a few times in the puffs but mostly a slogfest. At least the sun was out. Barefeet too :D

If I'd had more time, I would've joined ya'll at Gordo's. Hopefully next time.

Rigged the 12 & launched Martins 12. Gusty nasty air so landed M. & rigged 9's..Waited for wind to fill in by schlogging in 12 meter conditions! Then it filled in & we had a great run up to muire creek and rode the swell back as the wind dropped...Rigged the 12 again and had a sweet session in the wind driven swell...Lots of smoooth wave rides & bunny hops off the swell...Nice to see Camie & Grant out...

Nice on the inside with the GO and the 8.0 Cranked down to the max. About 500m out I would turn around because the lift offs with the GO were getting ridiculous! I was over powered but it made for better pics from the beach where my photographer was standing.

I thought I killed an otter for a minute there but I think I just nailed a lot of kelp he was playing in. He had the fear of death in his beatty eyes 5 feet ahead of my board. I might have just spanked him coming off the plane and out of my str ... (more)

Lonely session at first. One kite out initially, then six more. I was the only windboardsurfer out until Turtle showed later.

I tried at least 1-2 forwards on every run out. The ramps improved later on in the session, but I was tired from sheeting in so hard, so my last forwards were pretty feeble. I had 2 good ones when I was slightly overpowered with a good steep ramp to launch from. I still don't have the whippy-spinny flat water forwards that Jeff and other sailors seem to pull off effortlessly, but ... (more)

Fairly mellow session. Main goal was to try forwards so I sailed for 2 hrs with my back hand near the clew. Now my shoulder hurts for some reason. Tried 2 lame ones - came out of the straps and landed on my head mostly. A few backloop attempts. Great to be back at Gordon's - warm, a little choppy but fun.

Great 5.0 session!!! :D Mostly planing with very little slogging. Big Blue ocean, not too cold anymore. Large ramps. Great gybing conditions.

And IT IS windier the more up wind toward the lighthouse you get. I think there is a lift effect happening towards the Orveas Beach cove which drops the wind.

Saw the wind picking up at 5pm. Got to Ross Bay at 6:00 and it was on the pumpfest side of marginal. Waited for Steve to arrive, ready to bag it and a new push came in. Rigged and sailed for an hour or so. Upwind almost to Brochie Ledge, then back again. Chased a few boats outside Ross Bay, then headed into the bay in anticipation of dropping wind. Sun setting and no wind near the beach. Pumped to shore. Pretty good sesh for my first time out this year. If you look carefully at the webcam pics 19:16, and 19 ... (more)

Could have had another hour or two planing with the 7.5  but a very nice sail with the 5.8. Slogged for an hour practicing flare jibes and sailing clew first before wind came up. Planed by myself for 1/2 hour before anyone else came out to play, last 1/2 hour ditto. Made 1/2 dozen fully planing jibes, quite a few nearly, Nitinat is SOOO great a place to practice, flat water really helps the completion rate! ThankYou DASHER DVD for the jibe help! Only fell about 4 times whole session, what a d ... (more)

The wind came and then backed off and then came in again. Those of us with patience were well rewarded with a sunset session.4 kites out ranging from 21m-14 m(all of us nicely powered). Nice uneventful session exept for Marathon Dave who tried to milk the last few puffs and ended up with his 2nd swim of the day. Mark(tweezer) and a buddy on formula stuff dropped in for a quick vissit before heading towards Trial island again.

Rad weekend at the lake, spent way too much time on the water... hands, legs, arms all want to fall off and die right about now.... maybe i'll be able to walk by next weekend. Everyone for the most part had a good time, aside from kus' and his van  - hey kus you ever thought of one of those cool scooters I hear their reliable, you even could tow a trailer, it would be perfect!
