Good day.
Started on the 12 and was well powered. Switched to the 9 half way through though which was right on the line of being enough. Have been trying to ride smaller kites recently to work on dialing in my riding, I did allot of compensating when learning with big kites, so trying to correct that.

Aimed to be on the water at 9am, which worked out to around 1:30pm. Just as the wind and swell were backing off.
Tried the paddle first to see if the swell were big enough to catch on the 980, but the first 200m had a lot of grabby attached seaweed at the ultra low tide. Pumped the 5.5 as kites were falling and after a taxi out through the weed went straight upwind. Hitting Parksville city beach in one tack. Think I could have made it to CB in 4-5 tacks. 980/5.5 mode have amazing (but slow) upwind. ... (more)

Commitments in Nanaimo today, thought I would check out Pipers conditions. Good call!
Noon, partly sunny, the old pine humming 15kts and a couple of windfoilers sailing in whitecaps. Fully powered on the 5m and 1250cm for a good two hours. Consistent 20kt off the point north of Clark Rk. It dropped mid-afternoon. Upsized to 1750cm to squeeze another few reaches in.

Little late to the party, but still had a fun ride. Getting further out there and used to bigger swell/waves. Started with 5.7 then rigged to 6.2... was on big blue since the wind felt like it was slowly falling off. Didnt get out on the 120L. Wanted to try that out on stronger winds since uphauling up on that seems impossible. oh well, next time.

Lovely afternoon for a mellow cruise on my Tiki board. Had an excellent session with one mishap where I got downwind of the Tiki and could not seem to body drag back to it. It doesn't have a lot of volume (its like a flat plank) and sits low in the water so I don't think it gets pushed downwind very much. I suppose I also have to face the fact that my body dragging technique may very well be rubbish. The GPS track seems to confirm this ;-(. I got assistance from a fellow kiter who pushed the board down ... (more)

Nitinaht Day #4 - Wind came up at 11:00am so hit the water for an hour in 10-15kts, then it died off from 12-2pm then came back 15-22kts till after 5pm. I wiped out doing a speed run and hit my neck on the boom which didn't feel good as I had neck surgery 5 days ago. Stitches stayed together so all is well! Stephane left today and stopped on the way out to foil but he caught the 12-2 no wind zone. Too bad! Supposed to get sunny and warm up here beginning tomorrow. Good wind on arrival, but died by the time I got out. Lance and I schlogged around for a bit before heading back to the beach. Waited for a while and the wind came back a bit. Just enough for me to foil with the 8m. Got about 45 min of foiling and it shut down again. Fun time. Short and sweet.

Super fun session at Savary Island at the end of Townley Rd. Wind was way more manageable and consistent today - glad my boat survived the night in the gale (some not so lucky). Some great swell rides down by the boat ramp. Enjoyed dodging in an out of the mouring bouys and anchored up boats. Really starting to feel comfortable in the foot straps. Savary Island lives up to the hype - this place is 10/10.

Not as good as it should have been but sooo fun to get out on a sunny, windy day with some nice clean waves. Tide was perfect at the start for the best waves in close but plenty of nice swell out a bit further. Mostly slog and ride but the rides made it all worth the effort. Kiters doing much better than me. Great to see Melissa out at the home beach finally and a few other familiar faces.

Off balance. Whales spouting. Cool temps, no sun, wind was ramping up ' something felt off. Waited for the peak of the wind, but got the peak of gusts. Knocked off balance by the chop and the outside gusts. Hard to time the waves with the spotty wind. Got my arms stretched by some gusts and square chop on bottom turns. Never found a groove. Brought my windsurf gear as I feel the need to get back in the straps and smack some lips, but conditions were slog and ride so wing it was and it was pretty sick. Got knee deep with the 5.0 and realized it was solid 4.0 so switched rigs. Big sets and big period. Super fun picking off set waves outside the break and riding them way down the beach. Only got caught a few times inside but got back out unscathed. Wind got light and gusty later on but managed to make it work. Have to learn to tack out of the wav ... (more)

Another first, this time winging at Long Beach. I've been waiting to do this for a while and it was fun!!!! Glad Shaggy was there to as my winging buddy, for a few reasons, as I probably would have caved to windsurfing pressure and not winged. Was nervous getting out, but it wasn't huge day so it was actually really easy. Once outside stayed out and played on the waves. Super fun day with lots of nice rides. Watched Shaggy catch a few bombs! I was super stoked to be able to sail way outside in the bay, neve ... (more)

Crazy OP most of the time an but amazing session overall. Lots of crashes, lots of big jumps (some landed!), high-speed gybes, some forced salt water nasal rinses, the works... Felt really dialed in with the small board. Tried to ride the amazing swell downwind but just too tough to dump the sail power to make it work like the wingers were. Great for nice smooth gybes on the faces though. Super fun. My aging body hurts now...

Arrived late to the party. Wind had come down and was pretty holey. Got one wave and waited. Wind came back later and was solid 20kn +- for about an hour 1/2 '?

Great to get out after a long hiatus. Epic RB conditions with big smooth swells. Haven't seen that in about a year.

Surprised to notice former work colleague and windsurfer DF, myself and one other kiter as only sailors west of clover pt! Several kites visible in the distance in Ross Bay. Close to ideal conditions overall & nicely powered (minor gusts really smoothed out after 2:30 - wind picking up more when came in). Felt great to get in a 1st "post" pandemic session after 2 years of inactivity!

Started out with steady 20 knots and pretty flat and built over the next 3 hours to gusts over 30 and huge fun smoothies. Some really great long rides and lots of people out , fun watching Pepe do flips and 360s 10 feet in the air. My fourth day in a row.
