First big Ross Bay session in a while for me -- fun times! Some good sized swell closer to the point. A bit gusty but I can't complain. I'm feel like I'm now one with my 1225MA and only need to lean on the 1475MA in really light winds. I will challenge anyone here for slowest gybe progress, but I had some hints today that I'm moving in the right direction. Great to see everybody!

Leave Locarno walking upwind at 1130 because of massive wind shadow, thinking to launch at the old kite launch, but glass prevailed all the way to Dog beach!
Suddenly out of the shadow and good wind for the whole session at Acadia and around Point Grey to the pill boxes and bell buoy. Great swell on the outside, later building to the inside for the down wind leg. Some massive swell!

Caught the 9:30 session from Tolmie to Acadia on 8m+surfboard in WSW 25g30 with Phil on 4m+kitefoil. Shared the Acadia waves with another windsurfer (orange board and orange sail) and another kiter on surfboard.
Mainly disorganized waves with flooding tide. Had to hunt for clean waves between Acadia and Dog Beach.
Came in at 11:30 just as it clocked offshore. Lucky I came in just enough to touch bottom before my kite dropped out the sky.

25kt forecast, so when the wind line came in, pumped up the 5m, got out, only to find it holding at barely 12 or so.
A couple of short flights, came in and got the 6 - then found while the wind had increased a bit, so to did the salad content - made for quite a frustrating experience.

I missed the RB sessions. Drove over there, waited a half hour, and left. The Goon had some decent puffs so rigged. By the time I was in the water it had dropped way off. Still, got foiling on a few reaches, in between sitting on the board in nothing. The wind got a bit better after half an hour. After I landed two other wings went out, one doing great. I made the middle shift but was a bit leery of the nearshore light winds. Greg and ULR's flight consistency out by the point convinced me to head out. Lucky! It took a bit of pumping to lift, but once up, there was lots for long foiling runs and upwind and downwind carves. There was some nice small swell to play with. Sadly, the kelp is thickening. I got taken down repeatedly just not seeing them soon enough to slalom away. One entaglement took me 10 min to escape. Bringing the dive knife next time.

Overcast, wind from the coast pushed in and gave us a chance to go kiting. I first went out on my surfboard, but I had a difficult time to get upwind and I ripped the one strap I had. Not doing well without that strap. Changed to the Mako. Took me a while to get used to the Mako again. I think I prefer the Surfboard.
The 11m NEO SLS was OK, I think I could have used the 12m. There were times the wind was weak, and I had difficulties to go upwind. Even with the Mako, I did not do that well going upwind. For ... (more)

Launch around 530 and it was just enough on the big stuff considering the eel grass:( ,but it started to clear out as the tide went up. In the end overpowered but still enjoyed the swell until the left contact lens came out. Disoriented coming in.

Surprise session. Got 3k into my Sup paddle and saw a 15kt wind line coming down the inlet. Sprinted home and took the wind gear out. It was a bit hard to get out of the bay with all the moored boats, but once out it was 15-20. Sailed to and around the ONC YarrowPt buoy and the wind was lighter mid inlet. Warm water.

Started out light and I got stuck inside the sand bar when the wind lull'ed. After a few minutes of struggling, the wind came up and I managed break free and had a great session foilisurfing the small point break back into the bay. About 10 kiters and 1 winger lots of room on the water. The Atlantic was so warm it was just shorts and a t-shirt on the water. Will see how these warm waters affect the upcoming hurricane season.

Got the 10:30 shift today with GregC. Was good and fun once I paddled out past the kelp bed and got some wind. All the breeze was near the point and there were some nice little swell to play on. Glad I could help out with Greg's starboard heel tacks, I find if you just force the trailing upwind guy to tack by throwing a tack yourself it really motivates them to take that evasive tack action. Took the shot despite some slogging from Paul and GregCan. My big gear and a lucky gust in the bay got me up and foiling and out to the better winds by the point. Tried hard to not crash into the high reading RB waters. Still managed to fall in a couple of times. Wind wasn't great and had to pump often to stay up on foil. Tiring. Regardless, it was fun to get back out and flying. Kelp ok. Nice to see the gang on and off the water with Grant, Greg, Paul, Matt, Dan, ULR, Mike, Tuna, Gus, and others.

Stormy evening. Headed down to RB a little late and found Tugboat hanging out with the wind kinda picking up, then Tuna arrived and it was on! sort off .. Large kelp beds and gusty conditions, Tuna was jumping the beds while Tugboat and I were practicing our slalom skills. Short session as it was getting dark.

Intuition had me stick it out for a gust or two and it paid off. Awesome late evening session. First time with the Ginxu in Ross Bay. After a little tuning, concluded I have a low end solution. Kudos to other late night members, El Tuna y El Perro, willing to foil in the dark.

A bit of a meh RB light wind session, but nice to get out after such a long time. I spent a week in Pacific City Oregon with the family, but sadly no wind the whole time I was there. This was my first time out since three glorious days at Nitinaht two weeks ago. Nice to catch up with all the regulars! Edit: Waterspeed tells me my top speed for this session was 14 knots -- the speeds in GPS track summary below don't look right.

Travel day with Ethan. Stopped at Edgefield in Troutdale for a late lunch. Arrived late in the day to overcast sky, pulses of rain, and rains squalls. Wind/swell check at Lyle. Chatter on the beach was 9 m kites and frustratingly gusty so Ethan took and pass and I took to the water at Doug's Beach for a quick rinse.
