Most fun I think I've ever had at IV. After waiting about an hour chatting to the kiters and watching them go downwinding, I decided to rig anyway - Jl left and all of a sudden it was worth going out (coincidence? -- you be the judge). His parting words were 'its going to come up, the wind has more weight to it" and he was right. Marginal at first, later a couple of 1/2 hours of fully powered with lighter just-planing in between. Just me and a GO board out for quite a while, then a bunch more boards out. Long runs over to James Is, hailing racing keelboats running down the channel. Swell was spaced a bit, fun to accelerate down even where it wasn't breaking. A couple of decent gybes. A couple of jumps, better than I've done before, more control. Rode one wave in to the beach, caught it properly for once - but it was only waist high, still new for me. FInally, the kiters came back. BWD out at the end on a 5.0 when I would still have been 7.5. First time with gloves, but didn't really need them.
