I have had much "HATE" building in me and was sooooooo happy to unleash a good portion of it at good ole CB. I arrived to an empty parking lot early. Rigged a 4.0 watching the tops of head high swell being sheared off by knife edge gusts. DWD showed up followed by the local rippers, Ozy and Paul. The wind dropped slightly, so I rigged a 4.5 instead. Good call, it turns out. I launched into the shorebreak and immediately felt the strength of the rip. I made it past the first set, my mouth dry with nervous tension. It felt like punching through the break at Uppers at Kanaha on a decent sized day. I think I let out a couple of screams of joy (something I'm not usually prone to doing out loud while I'm windboarding). I jibed on a bus sized swell on the outside and picked a swell to ride near the beach. I dropped in to a head high buttery smooth swell and got a couple of fun turns on it and kicked out . Now this is the good life!! I repeated this cycle many times with similar results. Funny, it never gets old at all! It was fun to sail with Mike C, Ozy, DWD, Chewy and Paul again, but I missed the rest of the Vic crew.

I seemed to be overcooking most of my backloops as I was stupidly overpowered on most of them  . Managed to land one only. I had one really fun high delayed one but landed it nearly dead flat and felt my fillings rattle. Ow. Many of my forwards resulted in overrotations as well. I've been sailing my 5.8 too much and am used to the slower rotation. I finally got the balls to try a high stalled forward and managed to land it. Very cool sensation - this was my highlight of the day!!!

DWD was hucking some big outside backs, and Paul was super close on tons of big backs on the inside section. Mike C was shoving his way around the break and hucking loops, and Ozy was killing it with some vicious backside and frontside hits. I haven't seen CB this good for swell and wind direction before. It did get gusty however. I got worked a number of times and got sucked waaaay down the beach into large breaking swell and ultra light wind in the shadow. One of the most fun sessions in a while! Does it get better?? 8)
