THAT is what I'm TALKIN' 'BOUT!
Arrived to Kook to see Grant Watson rigging his 3.3. Rigged the 4.2, launched after watching Grant rip it up for a few runs and had my best Kook session ever. Biggest gusts were in the high 40s with sideways spray and huge swell. One 30 second gust seemed just over 50. The swell I was on literally had mini white caps on the faces of the larger whitecaps on the face of the main swell, AND the spray was blowing off of these mini caps! Again, the upper limit of this sail rocks! Even made most of my jibes despite being grossly OP'd. The wind backed off to a nice 33 knots or so for a bit and I was able to throw some fun endos and a couple spin loops. Got spanked on a high back loop by a HUGE gust that hit me at the jump's apex. Saw stars on impact. The inside swell kept jacking up more and the beach break was occasionally shoulder high and hollow. Grant got tossed on the outside by a log and snapped his harness lines. Would have loved to have been on 60 L board and a 3.7, but still had an amazing session!
