Surprise! One of the best Willows sessions ever with 3hrs with Paul, Idefix, MtnarG, and GMan! Unusual given the on water reports from the early shift (Grant, Brett). Conditions definitely improved. It was the usual Willows gusty/holey goodness but always a minimum 15kts provided. Inside the bay 5m was needed to get through the holes, but past the yellow buoy, really needed a 4m and there was much sheeting out and turning into the wind to slough off power. There were weird powered swells just beyond CP and I did my best to keep up with Danno and threw in a short flag or two. I was killin' and getting cocky on the board until I got bucked off just before CP. Weirdly, my board kept going while me and my wing got left behind about 10m back. With me being a senior, I had forgotten to clip in my leash. I had seen videos of the body drag self-rescue and told myself to practice it someday. Today was the day! It definitely worked for me and I was able to steer towards my loose board and catch up. Sadly, catching up is not enough. I needed to overtake and let the board come to me. As soon as I stopped the drag and tried to reach for the board, I stopped moving but the board kept moving. My second try was working as well, but Paul swooped in and lasso'd my board and saved my ass. My Hero! Did a second session in the sunshine with the 4m and had even greater fun! The winds reduced after 2hrs and we all headed in. But, GMan had just arrived and had a sad sack look of disappointment of a solo session. So, I went back out for a third session with my 5m. It was a bit of work to get to the good winds beyond CP, but there were still lots left on the plate when my aging body gave out and I called it a day. Whew. Wonderful!??
