Got to Beach Drive above Clover Point and saw biggest waves for a westerly I've seen there. It was clearly above my paygrade so already having the wetsuit on wasn't a help. Interesting watching BWD, Tweezer, Shaggy, and Winddoc crashing even when going straight. Spent some time binocular spotting drifters and driving down to Gonzales Bay to pick one up. All safe landings, although gear didn't fare as well and I have an extra helmet now (PM me for it). It seemed to be getting a little lighter back at RB, the 2.0 and 2.5s were coming in, and I thought I'd try to squeeze out a short session staying inside. The west made it very gusty inside, I wobbled around then got a gust to the middle and managed to stay semi-sheltered to nearly Cattle. Regretted poking my nose out as far as I did, the wind was still way over what a 4.0 should be sailed in and the waves were big even partly sheltered. Hard to get going again. Foiled to the beach and nearly got taken out by a dumping wave, I knew it was coming and managed to get just ahead of it.
