Travel day with Ethan. Stopped at Edgefield in Troutdale for a late lunch. Arrived late in the day to overcast sky, pulses of rain, and rains squalls. Wind/swell check at Lyle. Chatter on the beach was 9 m kites and frustratingly gusty so Ethan took and pass and I took to the water at Doug's Beach for a quick rinse. Enough evening wind for the 4.5/92 and some swell to keep it interesting. Osprey fishing and checking out Ethan. Military helicopters flying overhead in formation was a little unnerving. Nice to get a welcome session in! Camped at Memaloose and was very pleased we got the tent up without the pouring rain that was streaming down in Hood River!
