Clean sets. Decided to pop to the north coast to try and take advantage of the two days of wind forecast. Hit so hit Newport first. Arrived to solid wind and the big kids (JP, Dan Thompson and others) launching from the South Jetty State Park proper, but the low tide shore pound was less than inviting. I decided to launch from the south jetty access and sail down to them mid-beach. The waves didn't look like much in the lee of the jetty but once out on the water what a treat! The clean open sets reminded me of South Chesterman on a chest-high day! Pure pleasure! You could dial-a-wave-size, increasing the size by sailing downwind! 4.5/92 slog and ride for me. Super fun session and great surprise return back to the Oregon Coast!
