7am dawn patrol light wind session. Lighter than it initially felt and I came in pretty quick to swap the 880 for the 1080. Fortunately I didn't need to swap the 5.5 for the 7, but I could only get up when there was a gust. Good size waves and light winds meant for tricky take offs, and difficult for gybe practice. Step #11 of gybe rehab is proper wave positioning. As a beginner I eventually learned to use waves to my advantage and aimed to be going 'downhill' through a gybe. If you get onto a wave too early you might catch up to the wave ahead of you, at which point you effectively start going 'uphill' and risk stalling out or a nose dive. When riding a wave through gybe you don't even need to use the wing to power you around. I've discovered here that wave riding might be my favourite part of wing foiling.
