I've been out of the game for a bit but getting back in, I only remember doing it Tony's way. Signal and get acknowledgment from landing crew, maybe tack out again, stop a safe distance out, get board off feet, drag in.

This is all because of inflatable kites. If everyone was flying foil kites instead there would be no safety issue with launching/landing. No argue about water/shore launch. With foil kites, you just hot launch them safely (there is no power in the kite at first). Say yes to fast, effecient and ...

Got a surprise chance to try out a fresh 1st pump Prodigy (12m) today at Cook, good stuff! Very south wind (12 kites in Ross Bay) so hard to judge upwind tack from the norm but felt like it pointed high. Very stable, parked nicely. Turns nice with subtle bar pressure but give it the beans & it would ...

I doubt you want to be the guy who gets all kiting activity nuked in Victoria. Don't think it can happen? Try to kite in Vancouver. Just not worth it for a marginal light wind session in my opinion. Good stoke tho!

Cars, Dogs, people, light poles, sketchy walk to the water with kite in the air, cars, dogs and people are all I can think of for reasons that launching at clover by a beginner is about the worst idea they could possibly have. Leave Clover to the storm riders & go to IV.
