Have you windsurfed? That will be a bigger help than foiling experience. Foiling experience just allows you to be used to the sensation and not freak out when you are feeling like you are (actually ~70cm) 10 feet in the air on foil!

On the desktop version if I click on either of the thumbnail photos on the right side on the home page they both go to the Gordons album even though when I hover over my last photo it shows the caption. Figured I'd mention that.

I think people mostly go with carbon for two primary reasons aside from obvious performance gains of it being lighter/stiffer: 1. It's a hell of a lot lighter to haul to the beach. 2.
