Re: Wing Repair - Should we always expect it?

This aspect of winging really sucks! The HA foils are basically skewers and there's not much you can do to prevent tears in the wings in big yard sails. The light weight of the Armie foils is partly to blame I'm sure. Last session my board flipped 3 times and I narrowly missed my new 3m getting stab...

Re: KT Wing Air

I rode both the fresh 5m and 4m today. Very stoked and agree with Dave's assessment, though the handles are close enough to what I'm already familiar with that they feel fine. These wings are so balanced and are beautiful to tack and flag out. Doesn't hurt that they look great too :D

Re: KT Wing Air

I quite like the handles. The Cabrinhas are maybe the most comfy but the KTs work very well and I never had any issues with knuckle-rubbing on the strut when I tried one. I HATE having knuckle rub. The front handle extends close to the leading edge, so stink bug starts are easier as are tacks. Shoul...

Re: Wingfoiling Progression

Thanks for that, Smartang. Yes, a larger tail would be helpful most likely. Sadly I've chopped most of mine already for better speed/turns but at some expense of FFP as you say. The HA tail I just got has been amazing for speed/glide/turning and lift, but it's small. I'd love to see a larger version...

Re: Wingfoiling Progression

JH is so damned smooth. Looks like his strap to strap jibes/foot switches have his front foot pressure at least close to the neutral pitch/lift of the foil. My Quatro/Armstrong set up needs a few more cm of foil box forward than I can get to have my feet properly positioned for neutral feeling foot ...

Re: Wingfoiling Progression

... It seems the HA1125 sings (high frequency hum), not sure if that's similar to what others experience. Didn't really notice anything like that with the HS1850... It's likely the HA195 tail. My 1125 is silent. Seems to be common on this tail. Some are fairing the trailing edge a bit with varying ...

Re: RSPro Rail Tape

I've done 2 Armstrong 5.11 boards with RS Pro and a cheaper, copycat 2" product. The RS Pro 2" didn't need any water or special techniques/tools. My 5.11 was being used for SUP, so I used slightly longer lengths of rail tape up the nose to prevent paddle strike damage. To prep, I simply ap...

Re: Wingfoiling Progression

How long is the fuse? If possible, perhaps going to shorter fuse or flattening the stab angle to give less front foot pressure? I played a bit with footstraps this summer but find it pretty difficult to nail the position for foot switches on foil and every foil has a different sweet spot for the str...

I only give Jesse negative Yelp reviews because he never logs his epic wave sailing sessions through which I need to live vicariously. Other than that, exceptional  .

Re: Tuning/ Rigging Advice for a 5.0 Hot Sails Superfreak

I'd be happy to have a look at how it's rigged in person. PM me if you like. I loved these sails for their maneuverability and gust eating capabilities. Like Dave said, Overdownhauling/outhauling kills the feel of these awesome sails, but they are a bit different to rig from standard mono film sails...

IMO, heading upwind is a matter of getting enough forward speed on foil, turning the hips/front foot forward, keeping the wing more vertical, looking upwind, and letting the wing "slot" into position. There isn't much need to rake it back or drive it forward. If the wing is a good design a...

Some amazing progressive riding by Johnny Heineken (Blue Ozone) and others under the Golden Gate. The commentator does a voice over discussing the positive vibe of wing foiling (and all forms of foiling) and its inclusivity. I love the term "compersion"; the feeling of joy one has experien...

Re: Fuselage lengths

Probably in the wrong thread..... My AFS-85 windsurf fuselage is ~90cm What are people running for fuselage length for Winging....60-70cm? If you want to Wing foil and SUP surf foil in small mushy waves on the 115L Quatro Drifter....go 60 or 70cm fuselage? 60cm for both. 70cm will be more stable bu...
