Re: Wing Gloves - Winter
Anyone ever use this style mitt winging - https://www.ion-products.com/en/products/ion-open-palm-mitten-2-5-2022-48200-4145 ? Any opinions? First session with thicker gloves (I sometimes use thin sailing gloves) this fall...used nitrile underneath those worn out 3mm today (ie. the gloves in the pics...

Re: Front footstraps
Thanks for the feedback/info. I had some Fanatic footstraps that came with my Sky Wing in 2021. I tried putting them on the new board but don't think there is a workaround to get two on. I like having the two on the Armstrong board, mostly to land my feet when switching on foil and positioning them ...

Front footstraps
I have a single insert line for the rear screws on my smaller Nexen 60L board. On my Armstrong 88L there are two parallel lines so I have two footstraps with two screws/washers each (same on the Fanatic Sky Wing but I never strapped it up at 110L). Has anyone used things like this on a wingfoil boar...

Re: Wing Gloves - Winter
Thanks for all the creative ideas, wow! So looking forward to dropping the need for gloves soon, or at least simple thin gloves at most. It kept using those same gloves since Feb. Hardly any material around the thumb/index left. I did throw some nitrile gloves underneath, they wouldn't fit over top....

Re: Bladder repair
cabrhina came with stick on patch not sure where you get that. Duotone wings come with this inner tube patch kit https://www.parktool.com/en-int/product/super-patch-kit-gp-2 . Useful for small pin pricks but that is about it. Found this useful, but long, to do some repair https://www.youtube.com/wa...

Wing Gloves - Winter
I have found my winter gloves wear through fast. It first appears between the thumb and index finger (I do ride boomed wings - for now). I wore my 3mm Drylocks way too long (March 21 - Nov 22). After the thumb/index section wore, I kept on with them until the finger surfaces started disappearing. Th...

Re: Wingfoiling Progression
Still using my 110L board when conditions are marginal and need to float around in lulls. If it is windy, I pretty much always use an 88L that seems neutrally buoyant (I should try to weigh myself with a wetsuit on, but without I'm 84 kg right now). Thinking about a smaller board for windy days this...

Foil repair
I had an embarrassing attempt at launching in an onshore wind and shore break in Comox over the holidays. Wing canopy tear, face cut from foil (yes, I was wearing a helmet), and HA1125 foil damage when I bailed on trying to get out for a session (only thing I didn't damage was the board). One mornin...

Re: Latest in Wetsuits - what to buy?
FWIW - I got a Dawn Patrol 5/4 Hooded at Coastline (about 400 CAD) shortly after writing my last post in this thread. Trying on thick suits in the store is not easy. Mike, the owner, was very helpful on sizing. Have used it a bunch since. Keeps me warm but I can move less easily than I could with my...

Re: Latest in Wetsuits - what to buy?
Found a few threads on wetsuits, but they seem dated: https://windisgood.com/forums/topic/2886.html https://windisgood.com/forums/topic/9969.html https://windisgood.com/forums/topic/2972.html This one had 'Latest' in the subject title, so I figure I'd revive it. Questions: 1. want to get advice on m...

NA West Coast Demo Days?
Came back from a recent Euro trip where I was in Brittany for about 10 days. Most of the time was visiting some friends near the northern exit of the Golfe de Morbihan. Brought a wetsuit in case winging opportunities arose. Found some folks willing to rent gear but never had any decent conditions. L...

Re: GPS Tracking how to's
I did take a peek here - https://windisgood.com/safety.html#how-to-submit-a-gps-track but am unable to answer the following: do people generally upload tracks that cover the whole day? That's how I recorded sessions on my watch. Just paused the watch the couple of times I'd come in for a break, so I...

Re: Wingfoiling Progression
My other half has been winging (not foiling) on an iSUP (with glued on sUP WINDer). I'm trying to get her a tow before combining the wing with the foil, something I didn't manage. Anyone know any tow options around (Duncan-to-Victoria area)? I have an Armstrong tow rope expressly for this. Been tryi...

TorqKeys
I used TorqKeys wrenching on carbon fibre bikes many years ago. They come with a preset torque. I got an 8 Nm one in Feb, when visiting the US, from a company called Prestacycle. Use it for final tightening of Armstrong foil gear (it clicks when hits the preset torque - it is pretty intuitive to use...

Re: Wing Repair - Should we always expect it?
Thanks for all the insights, much appreciated. I'll look to get some kitefix. I'd used this already https://www.gearaid.com/products/tenacious-tape-repair?variant=28044148817 (the ripstop version) on another wing. It was interesting being in those stronger winds yesterday (a first for me - was more ...
