Very sad news from LaVentana..... Victoria area kiteboarder
I am very sorry to confirm that a Victoria area kitesailor died Thursday January 29th in LaVentana. On Thursday afternoon Alan Williams was found unconscious floating face down in the water, he was still attached to his kite and his feet were still in his kiteboard straps.

Sunday at sunset we celebrated Alan's life here in the La Ventana campsite. Allan very much an oceangoing person and was enjoying what he loved most while on vacation with his wife Brenda and his daughter. Alan left behind a large family, grand children and many friends. From the Windsurfing and Kitesailing community in-laws John and Jill Stevens, nephew Kyle Stevens and numerous friends. Alan was also well known as fisherman, businessman, and a pilot.
I knew Alan as a quiet, thoughtful, and very friendly person who went out of his way to assist his friends in the kite/windsurfing community. Alan will be missed by all.
