August Long Weekend at Nitinat, What to expect?

Post by nanmoo »

Thinking about heading to the lake from Friday to Monday, but have never been there on a long weekend. Will it be nuts by the time I get there Friday afternoon? Are all the camping spots generally gone? Just want to get an idea of what im in for so I can plan/pack accordingly.

You'll be fine Tony just go there and get a site! I've found in the last couple of windfests there is usually room for everyone! If it is already crowded for some reason, people will make room for you. I'll be there on Sun/Tues.
Why aren't YOU out there?

Last weekend was pretty busy, but there was still a vacant complete site most times, and there was still tons of room to double/triple up. No probs with enlarged campsite.

once the word starts to spread about the POISON JELLYFISH BLOOM the nit will be a ghost town. 8) I predict a mass exodus to the not so secret cool and freshwater lake up north.

I think your estimate of the no-seeum population up there on a hot August day/nite is out by a few nano exponent factors

Leaving Mecca

Post by SaltSpringKiterPeaceGuy »

I prefer not to leave Nitinaht period . and exclamation mark.

However, sometimes things such as food, vet appointments, friends calling in favours, kite gear to pick up, land cruiser's to pick up etc etc necessitate leaving Mecca (aka Nitinaht). I don't like it, but hey that's life. I can deal. Really I can, ask anyone.

But I will say this, if I have to leave I usually try and time it for Saturday morning set to arrive back about 4pm Sunday.
