Ideal surf vehicle???
Well, I have my eye on this one now, still too new (refined to yield a smaller length, way better for mobility) and US made bulky but in a couple of years might be a good option:
Freightliner MC-L chassis with Cummins ISB 6.7 liter diesel engine and Allison transmission 70% more fuel efficiency than comparable gas engines (they say) One sweet lookin' rig at shorter than 29'.

The other one is the new Winnebago 25'er VIA which is a little less interesting with its focus on two TV's and way too much bed, not enough livingroom
Both with basement storage for gear, they are getting shorter and wider, sound familiar
