GoPro Video Editing?
GoPro Video Editing?
Hey! Like the subject says, what is everyone using to edit there GoPro footage?
I am just starting to use my GoPro and have already found it difficult finding something to do some editing. I am not looking to do anything mindblowing. Cutting up and maybe slowing down and speeding up is pretty much all I am looking to do.
Suggestions anyone?

I use Windows Movie Maker for simple edits. The Vista/W7 version does HD video (the XP version doesn't). You may need to download it if it wasn't included with your OS.
I use Adobe Premiere Elements too. It is ok, but takes a bit to learn. It has more options than Movie Maker, but isn't as powerful as Sony Vegas. Premiere is about $100. Vegas is much more.
I hear good things about iMovie if you have a Mac!
Whatever you use, make sure that you find out what you need to do for best online quality.

Vimeo also has some useful, if not cheesy, lessons:

I'm looking forward to the video! OR Coast I'm assuming?

Sorry should have said it is for Windows.
My Vista windows movie maker didn't have the right codec. I thought I found one that would work but it didn't, so I gave up on that. Do you convert to a different format to edit in movie maker?
No coast footage. I really find that unless you spend a lot of time figuring out different angles the windsurfing footage I often see is not that great. Really doesn't show the magnitude of what is going on. I bought a GoPro chest mount/strap which I have seen give really good results for skiing, biking and surfing/sup'ing.
I'll post the 30 minutes that I took on the weekend of me and my 3 year old daughter sup'ing around bamfield harbour.....exciting!!!!

I guess I must have downloaded the right decoder. It has been a while. On the GoPro site they write "Windows Media Player or Movie Maker (download the latest HD-capable version and also download a H.264 decoder to update media or movie maker). CoreCodec CoreAVC is one company that offers a codec pack for h.264. VLC media player. Download this free video media player that supports .mp4 h.264 files: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ For other PC based editing programs, we have had several customers give good reviews of the Pinnacle Studio HD editing software which is compatible with the MP4 files. Adobe Premier Elements PC based program that is compatible with MP4 files. If you have an existing program that does not support MP4 files, you also have the option of using a file conversion software such as Squared5 or VLC Media Player to convert your files into a format compatible with your particular editing program. Thnaks for the advice 4J. I think I see the error I made in installing the codec it was around the h.264 part. I'll check later.
JL I'll be sure and keep you in the loop! This SUP thing has really opened my eyes to Bamfield and Pachena beach. Absolutley great places for SUP'ing. I would think in the Summer Pachena would be a good spot to kite or at least learn to kite.
