Head down to the Goose Spit when it's windy - talk to the locals, by far the best way. You need to take lessons, that being said, so off to Nitinat until you're sure you can go upwind.

Randrew, I learn in South Padre island in 2013, then goose spit. There is an extremely important post on kiteforum you need to read.

(very good advice / tips about body dragging upwind at Goose Spit, since its different from the other places). Have a read and be safe out there.

goose spit

check out the facebook group. Comox Valley Kiteboard Crew.

Lots of friendly people there but as mentioned above, plenty of challenges learning at goose spit. Shallow water can be a challenge there sometimes but more-so, "off-shore" winds and plenty of unique obstacles downwind.

Stopping in a talking with locals is always great!
