Help Sooke basin guy looking for 130 ish board

Post by bakker »

 I’ve been sailing the sooke basin close to sunny shores getting the hang of things broken 2 booms catapulting off my 133 starboard hypersonic slalom board….it’s kind of a finicky board I think I’m looking for more of a free ride and a longer tail to help my horrible water starts .. thanks guys

Yeah the Hypersonic isn't an easy board by any stretch of the imagination

Sooke Basin is challenging to sail on a fin board, something like a hypersonic and a big sail will maximize the amount of planing/working upwind you can do. If you are having a lot of spectacular catapaults, have you got enough downhaul? Having a loose leech and sail twist will definitely reduce the sudden overpowering in a gust.

And of course a foil will use a much smaller sail so you aren't as easily overpowered, while being able to sail fast at higher angles so not as concerned about staying upwind. You know you want one
