BWD Wavesailing Camp...
Uh - Nanmoo - I had only 4 days (Hatch, Flo, Flo, Flo) - respectively used 3.7; 4.5 - switched to 4.0; 3.7; 3.7
Beg, borrow, or steal a 3.5, 3.6, or 3.7 for the week(s), likely you'll need it. And when you need it, you will NOT want to be sitting on the beach wishing you had it.
(I only use the 3.7 to 4.0 spacing because of the power in my sails and my preference to not be overpowered in the small sizes. And I think BWD and I weigh the same!)

Nanmoo, I'm 5' - 10", 153 lbs (70kg)
And I do know how to sail overpowered if I want to, I also use and love my 7.5 Retro, and even an 8.5 and 9.8 sometimes on my big boards at 'Nat/Sidney/Satellite Channel. But overpowered on big gear and/or flattish water like Victoria, and overpowered on small gear in waves/big swell are two totally different experiences.
If you're going to HR first, you should get to see what using a 4.2 in 3.5 conditions is like, and there are lots of used small sails there also - just not available anywhere near the coast, unless KUS has extras down with him. That may be your best option.

kind of a personal question, isn't itnanmoo wrote:How big are you Mr. Geoffy?
Nope, I have just one 3.7 and I wish I'd had a 3.3 at Doug's the other day. Eastman was also not able to hold his 3.7 on the coast when things really got going and he weighs about as much as you Tony and can sail overpowered.
Nanmoo - not the same when you get into smaller sizes and those conditions, even with the extra 40 lbs weight. If Marcus needs a 3.3, I want a margarita (or 2) and a camera.
A 4.2 would often be your big sail for most coastal/gorge conditions unless you stay near Event Site, Hook, or Stevenson, where you may need a 5.2/5.5
Remember, BWD and I are fairly efficient sailors as well as hollow-bones types and hence can get away with smaller sails than most because we like to, not because we have to.
