Go. You'll have a great time, especially if you compete! I would, but my window of opportunity only allows for the dates after the contest. You'll see Nanmoo and Redbaron down there for the contest though, I think!

Road Trip Plan

Post by Tsawwassen »

Last year I left Tsawwassen at 6 and was at Florence by 4 just in time for an evening session. Then the next day I drove to Gold Beach. Do you guys have other spots you hit along the way? I know some of the Vancouver crew go to Hood River but I would like to stay on the coast this trip for SUP and wave sailing. Nanmoo suggested Seaside so I might go there as well as Newport. I'm probably leave on the 13th or14th if the forecast looks good.
Where do you launch at Seaside, is it SUP only or can you sail there?

Know it would be tons of fun, if someone else is going, would be great to split gas and ferry costs. If anyone is interested PM me. probably go a few days before, (the 15th) and return a few days after(the 25th).

No one here is that carbon friendly. Aside from the cuddling Dave's, everyone drives their own rig. It's just too hard to coordinate schedules/how long you can last/where you want to go.

Tsawwassen - Most of the VI crew only hits Hood as a last resort or if they want to pick up some swag. So we are in the same boat. Seaside is a surf spot mostly, though my friend Jeff was sailing a SUP when we were there last year. Google the cove. Recommend not parking in the actual cove parking lot, though it was funny when we did. Manzanita has some spots too. Again, google the area, but for a goofy footer nothing beats the cove. I'd surf the Flo jetty on the inside if not for the sharks.

definitely no excuses coming from Vancouver - the I5 bridge should be fixed up sometime next week. :D

things are still looking doable for me... Ride to conquer cancer this weekend (cycle Surrey-Seattle), then work trip to Nashville for 5 days, back in Vancouver friday 21st --> head S on I5. Can't wait

The forecast isn't looking good so I'm going to postpone my trip until early next week. I was supposed to leave this Thursday, hope things improve by Tuesday for the competition, if so I'll head down then. What do you guys think?

Yep :? things look to improve for 5 days by next Thurs/Friday, I would line those days up....could be tight but ok for the comp and forecast is still a week away....things can change quickly...I'd be more concerned about the tiny 1-2' swell forecast :x
Wish less, sail more!!
