Anyone have a setup in their garage they care to share a photo of?

I am looking for a good design of windsurfing storage. I am really looking for ideas.

I have searched the net and haven't found any pics that really grab me.

The space above a car behind the area where the garage door comes up is generally unused in a full height garage. In a double garage like mine (can't use one side due to height of van), on the car side I suspended two sets of ropes (1/4 "dia or better and probably 16' long) in parallel 6' apart (and perpendicular to the car) with 3' loops hanging down attached with screws every second stud: boards go in there with noses in first, then loop the rope under the tail end (in line with the car)
Below that I got two old doors (perpendicular to the car again, btw don't ever chuck an old door, they make the best shelving) making a thin but sturdy platform resting on a ledger attached to the wall, the other end face nailed with a 6'x2' piece of plywood into the ends of the doors and also the joist above, making a 2' high shelf above the car and below the handing boards. Nailed swim noodles onto the door edges to avoid frontal labotomies This shelf stores odds and ends and sails, masts, kite bag. The shelf can go lower if ya got a maserati....adjust plywood size and ledger height accordingly.
Onto that piece of plywood (or the joists if you like) facing the interior of the garage I bolted two 1 1/2 inch ABS pipes (these flex and are smooth, won't wreck the surface of the booms) 3' apart which then has a 30' angle elbow attached, with another piece of pipe making "L" hooks, for several booms handing also in line with the car. Even when the car is in the garage I can lower any board, pull out any sail or boom etc......but then again I got long arms.

At the ends of the doors or the joist in the ceiling I also have several hooks so I can hang up to 4 washed sails from head and downhaul cleets to dry (when the van is parked outside) or hang the wet sail bags from one end to drip dry.

At night I put the mute pitbull and the pet anaconda into the garage for their beauty rest and energize the 3,000 volt wires attached to the doorknobs and window frames

Turtle, did you see those pics of Wind Mountain Pete's garage or shop with his gear stored (pre having it all stolen)? Setup looked terribly well organized, but it was also in a big shop.

Thanks Kus - I know I can use some of your ideas. I have no cars in the Shop (I shouldn't have said garage). It is my tool shop and I have a wall and a roof. I would like to keep things high to make more room for other things below. I like the sound of the storage config. I don't have the 100,000 volts although I am considering a security cam.

More Force - I didn't look for that thread because I remember that the space was large. At this point the most practical ideas I have are from Kus. At this point the more ideas the better and so I will look for that post.

I have decided to go behind the door( I have 9 inches to work with). The 2X4 rack is also the door stop to protect the board(s).

Thanks for that thread. I didn't think about the benefits of standing up the sails.
I am trying to store the gear in a small as area as possible in a place that is protect because it is a working shop.

This post also made me think about storing my gear in my truck because that is how I am going to get to the beach. My wife is having a baby soon and the Dodge Caravan has changed from a windsurfing wagon to a mama wagon.

Ah, sawdust covered gear........I can relate! I built side access racks for my boards. They take up very little room, are quick for loading/unloading and can also hold masts/booms. It's best to store your sails standing up. If you can, try to hang them. If you can't do that, stand them on the luffsleeve so as not to wrinkle the clew. Kus' sail washing station is awesome! Something to think about.

I have started and thank-you for the ideas. I will include pics when I am finished ( perhaps next weekend).
