I may be able to slip away next week. I'm trying to make plans just in case. Being a gorge/coast newbie I have no idea where to stay, but I have a few ideas from previous posts. I still have a few questions:
- Can someone please PM me directions to the "secret" Gravel Pit #2 in the Gorge?
- Which park did you stay at near Flo? It looked nice. Do I need to book ahead?
Any other camping location tips are welcome. I don't want to be left driving around looking for campgrounds at the last minute, especially when many may be full.
I'm planning to sleep in the vehicle. I may bring a tent as backup.
Thanks guys. I hope to see you down there.
Edit: Thanks Dave! That helps much.

Thanks Dave,
I haven't decided what I am doing for sure yet, but there is still room on the Coho for Saturday and Sunday sailings, so I would likely depart one of those days.
Can someone in the know give a forecast for what the weekend and next week looks like for coast and gorge days? Thanks!

I'm not an expert, but the Gorge looks good for Sat/Sun and into next week. Coast looks pretty good too, although the model and NOAA aren't really agreeing which is sometimes not a good sign. We will likely be in Flo on Sat/Sun and might even move S if we have too. The swell is small (<5ft) so its a good time to learn.nanmoo wrote:Can someone in the know give a forecast for what the weekend and next week looks like for coast and gorge days? Thanks!

Florence
OSR from Florence. We drove through today and it was fogged in, not much wind. We drove north to Lincoln City and the fog bank was offshore for most of that drive but now we are socked in again in LC. Seemed windier in the sunny spots but maybe it was just that I could see the water through the fog!
This is the 'non-windsurfing' 'quality time' leg of my trip, outlets, book reading and salt water taffy (with the odd microbrew IPA thrown in for good measure). My wsurfing credits should be through the roof by Sat or Sun at which point I'll be in Hood River until Wed surfing my brains out.
Cmon down!

Well the inevitable happened and after almost 4 weeks of not having it happen I blew my shoulder at soccer Friday night. Sadly I am not going to risk coming down and having to deal with coastal conditions. Instead I think I'll head to the Nat for a few days of lower impact sailing which I can still handle. You guys have fun down there!
