EC Strait of Georgia

Has anyone else noticed that the Strait of Georgia forecast is now for the entire strait instead of north/south of Nanaimo. This basically makes this forecast useless for us mainland folks. Is this a permanent change? I hope not. Anyone know whats up?

What gives... south island gets everything....our strait is way bigger than yours and you get 3 forecasts plus noaa and we only get one that's not right most of the time anyway. Mid island mutts plus gdawg not taking this lying down.

Eastside, just call us the centre of the universe. You are welcome to move on down to the southside, if you like

Personally, I think mid-island living seems sweet...you have the ferry, airport, access to great sailing spots, Mt Washington and closer to Nitinat. Plus, slooower pace.

There SHOULD be better and more wind forecast for ya'll up there 'in the sticks'. Especially, since most of us southerners all retire up to yer parts eventually anyways.

I think JL is right, one forecast when it is the same for north and south, two when they are different.

I don't think so Joost, for as long as EC has been posting updates to the web they have had that map divided into N & S sections regardless of similiar forecasts. It would not be something so easy to change anyways, and they don't follow that convention with any of the more offshore forecast areas that are probably even more similiar. Somehow I think this is a cost-saving measure. Too bad the weather doesn't know about the reccession!

JL, make sure you try Mon Petit Choux - french bakery on Commercial Street across from the library in nanaimo. Best Cappucinno in town and as good as anything in Vancouver. pastries hit the spot as well.

Personally, I'd say for mexican Penny's Palapa on the water beats Gina's 10 to 1 on a bad day. But alas, only open in the summery months.

Aladdin's Cafe downtown, beside the cambie, now that is the best food I have had on the island. I used to walk down from my house twice a week. Their cheesecake is to die for.

Env. Canada today: "Strait of Georgia - north of Nanaimo.
Wind northwest 10 to 15 knots diminishing to light late this morning
then increasing to northwest 15 to 20 this evening. Wind diminishing
to light Friday morning then increasing to northwest 15 to 20 Friday
evening.

Strait of Georgia - south of Nanaimo.
Wind variable 5 to 15 knots becoming southeast 10 to 15 late this
evening then becoming variable 5 to 15 early Friday morning."

Looks like everything is back to normal. I guess they just do one forecast if nothing interesting is happening. I just jumped the gun.
