KITE REPAIR IN VICTORIA??

Heyy, looking for a kite repair person, i have a 9m Naish Charger, i'm clueless when it comes to repairing it, the struts seem to be leeking a bit of air. Any suggestions or can anyone repair the iner tube for the struts for a price?

also is it ok ride out on dallas with a 4/3 this time of year?

You can fix a slow leak with a bicycle patch. I won't do it for you, but if you want to swing by with your kite I'd be happy to talk you through it.

For torn kites that need significant sewing I'd use Greg "Knotty Beds" in Sooke myself.

I have successfully repaired kites with shoe goo and ripstop nylon tent patch material [lasted several years] for small tears at the beach. You can also buy repair kits:

Greg from Comox Kite Repair is a perfectionist!

I had a blow out in my bladder and big tear around a strut and the leading edge, and even with all the graphics to match up, you can hardly tell it was ever repaired. I would highly recommend him!

In fact, I just dropped off a kite last night at 7pm, and am on my way to pick it up this morning at 8:30. (damned barnicles; 2 smaller tears in canopy this time)

To my knowledge, Comox Kite Repair is the only kite repair service in western Canada that does bladder repairs. All the others mentioned above only do fabric repairs.

As for your 4/3 - Dallas Rd question, it probably depends on how much you feel the cold, your tolerance for risk, and what else you have to wear with it. A warm neoprene hat or hood, booties, neo gloves, under-layers. Some polar-bear types seem OK without some of these extras, but if you have a gear failure and are in the water for a while, IMO the extras are essential.

If Greg Innes / Ressurection is repairing kite bladders, OK, I stand corrected. Last time I checked, which was years ago now, it was either replace with new or DIY with Pasta-guy.

hi everyone. I'm back from Baja and am repairing kites and bladders if possible. I use tear aid on smaller tears and can possibly repair large bladders tears with a custom glued on patch.

Greg - send your no-can-glue bladder repairs to me to patch by welding - sky's the limit, patches over edge seams, new side or whole section. I will circulate samples of what my welder can do - for example some pictures of a patch over the edge seam on a strut bladder :

No sense in replacing when the majority of the bladder is in good shape !

Not at this point.

But you can see a sample of the welds. I just sent a section of LE bladder with a welded patch and a welded-in valve to the OR store in Victoria. It should be there early next week, stop by and have a look. It's light years ahead of my early bladder welding, back when you ( Greg Innes ) did the LE fabric repair on my '08 12m Rise. Still holding, that one is, both your fabric work and my first patch-welds.

Greg - how about your sewing machine, have you found a 4-point zigzag cam for it, or still sewing the wave pattern ?
