New La Ventana Campground (Campground El Sargento)

Post by thankgodiatepastafobreaky »

Well it's that time again when some of us are lucky enough to go to Baja. If we don't have the luxury of going early (now) to secure water front camping then we have to find other options. It has been 2 years since I've been down but this year the fam goes in a camper and I found a campsite in El Sargento (north of La Ventana). It opened last year. You sail by it on the downwinder. I think it's called Rasta Beach. I have just booked a site there. Here is the info if anyone is looking for another reasonably priced camping option (with hookups!!!) Oliver the young Mexican owner/manager is very nice. He can be contacted through FB messages. The site is away from the main hub of activity but this appeals to us who just want to kite, eat, read and sleep. (God can we please just get some sleep!!) The original Oscaritos (the best grocery store) is just a block away. Most questions can be answered by looking at the photos on the FB website. From what I understand there are only about 4 waterfront sites left for prime months. Ask him for specifics if interested.

I might pop by there today, Greg.
This is way, way too early to be in LaVentana!
In my usual spot, but 38 to 39C every day is much too hot for this old guy.
I won't even get into the humidity, bugs and tropical storm watches.
Oh well, maybe foiling next month. 11m and 9m Elf kites. Foil on foil, now there is another challenge for me.

Hi Martin, How can you keep cool? Swimming? Are there many dengue mosquitoes? Are there east winds this time of year for foiling from the Buff? Foil on Spotz foil- nice! You'll be keeping up with the racers.
Say Hi to Oliver for me as I have been talking to him quite a bit. We have the spot in the front with the hammock :)
You are only missing teaser winds here right now.

actually, the water is slightly cooler than I remember it. So swimming does help to cool the core. Some are renting ac rooms for a few nights, some are spending a lot of time in the freezer section of the supermarkets!
Some of us just get heatstroke and dehydrated.
Haven't heard of any dengue but lots of bobos and mosquitoes at dawn and dusk.
Yes, light onshore high humidity breezes. m
