Finally on Hornby with some gear. Tribune Bay is a sandy beach but the SE wind is directly onshore, and the wind seems to lift off the water near the shore which means it is a bugger to get out and planing through the shorebreak. Couldn't get ripping on the Naish 104L All Terrain so I tried my new Naish 10'6" SUP (which has a mast track). What a blast, it was super easy to tack in the waves, even caught a couple of waves and surfed along on them. I really bought this Naish 10'6 SUP for paddle surf ... (more)

The foot is holding! It was a little better today. still no more than just an hour of sailing, but hey. I am out on the water with the cast on! How cool (or stupid) is that! When I was coming in I got pinned under the sail and the board with river swell :shock: That was a little embarrassing, but I couldn't use both of my legs for obvious reason. Thanks to the unknown sailor who saved me :)

8) 8) 8) 8) Windy when I woke up and built from there. Sailed way way up the lake on the GO early on and then cruised downwind on 2 long reaches. By then the wind had built, got a few hours in on the 121 before it really kicked in and sailed the 94L for a bit.
Thanks to Pat and Martin for doing a gear run for me when my mast base broke way on the other side of the lake. :D Was back up and running within 5 min, unreal you guys rock.
Hitting a few good jumps, jibes still suck.

After a sucktastic start and fears of skunkage early, today ended up being another funtastic session at a new spot for me. The new board delivered again with forwards and backs on both tacks, and it cranks the backside snaps. Dave and Doc were hucking like crazy and we were treated to a great late show by some pros. Fireball, photos and shooting stars at the campground ... fun fun fun.

great session. started on the early shift. rigged what I thought would be marginal but when I hit the water I had to come in immediately to flatten the sail to the max. should have rigged smaller in retrospect as my 5.3 was a handful and it started beating me up as I got tired. all good :)

Great July session. Started with the 8M in wind that was ridiculously lifty-scared myself on one of my jumps by going up, up, up. Then shock: up some more ! Switched to the 6M for the 2nd half and even had to depower that a bit. Wind got punchy towards the end. Fluffy-thanks for helping Joe launch. Don't know how you held onto the 8M for so long. Your knuckles dragging the ground?

great day alround :D rigged 5.0 thinking that it's never that windy in the summer at Cook. 5 mins on the water proved otherwise. 4.2 and then it was good. Choppy to start then ended with sweet rolling swell. DWD tossing moves all over. I tossed a couple of forwards, but for me, it wasn't great huck conditions. Kus "can-be-rebuilt" and Bear throwing backies. Lots of people sailing well - Wingnut, Fish, Tom, Peter, Fishette.

Good session - no injuries to report. The new sawed off mast works great, super stiff - unbelievable low end horsepower. David Ezzy would not be impressed. Long term durability is yet to be determined though. Kiters, please look prior to jumping: it would be bad to run into something or someone.

Did some ocean cruising on the Kona Style out of my parent's bay on Sandpiper Beach on Hornby Island. The Kona and SF sail silently glides anywhere you want in minimal wind. Super easy, super mellow. Daggerboard was key to exploring every part of the narrow bay. Followed up with some SUP'ing.

First day on the new board (not yet listed in toybox) and I effing love it. I sailed it from marginal slog..slog...plane conditions to maxed out 5.0 madness and it was a dream. Loops forward and back ... so fun. Doesn't do anything for my vulcans though.
