1st G-spot session on a kite. Good to see the Gordon's kite crew ripping it up! Thanks for the launch, Martin! Tried Marathon Dave's surfboard. Insanely loose and fun. A real swell slashing machine! Rode the twintip for the rest of the session as the wind increased. Tried some tiny jumps and felt very lame.

:) nice to get the first session at Gordon's. Steady wind which slowly built. Had to take a break and add layers under my wetsuit as it was cccold! A good turnout of kites and a few windsurfers.

Got out for just over an hour with Mr. Keen(er) out of Ross Bay. Perfect conditions wind picked up at the end. Sunshine with lots O' kites ouit at Kook. The Severne 8.5m is absolutely amazing. Super steady pull heading downwind to Trial felt completely locked in rippin in the flattish water....gotta love Ross Bay for the Big Gear. Time to get a 10+ sail again. Chop from the tide was a bit crazy on the way out getting air on the big ones!! YIKES!! What a great day! :D

9.0 Session on the ONE :D

JL on water! Good wind, a few holes, nice jumping off off voodoo chop at end of session. COOOOOOLD -forgot gloves again. Tested new longer lines for bigger sweeps with kite- but less responsive. Also tested new Liquid Force Lace-Up Pads installed on top of OR stock pads. Very cushy - but like wearing platform shoes on the water. I was used to it quickly but it screwed up switch-stance edge. :?

The paddle out, flowers cheers and beers for canonball felt right. Just right. Getting out for my first Cook sesh of the year on this day of celebration of Johnnys life and carving a few turns thinking of him felt right too. Kinda blew me away that the first west wind that felt even close to a spring westerly came just as we arrived at the beach after the service. Somone said 'Johnnys got pull up there' or something... The sun was out, we gathered, celebrated, toasted, kited, and smiled and laughed. I st ... (more)

Following John's service (beautiful and fitting), a number of us paddled out at Kook St. to say our final farewell as the wind picked up. A few of us managed to get out on kites following the paddle-out ceremony. I'm not sure this day could have been better dedicated to John's memory. I felt honored to be part of this community today. You'll be missed, John.

Thanks for the retrieval Dave! Saved my session from much shame...

Nice, stable 6.0 Columbia. A bit light at first (I almost rigged a 7.5), but steady increases in strength/stability made the 6.0 the right choice. Probably the 95L would have been fine for the last half, but I was enjoying cranking jibe after jibe on the carve. One perfect jibe down a wavelet made the day. got a royal treat on my last day. Matt Pritchard approached me and asked what I think about Taboo board I was riding. Being overwhelmed with this fact ( I was absolutely sure he was just a cartoon character, I hope Lisa Simpson is real too ) I mumbled something like "Uhmm eh... they... kinda... ok..." but got a couple of wave riding pointers and an autograph on my chest anyways. Now washing is a problem.
