It was the East Coast's version of kitefest held by Ocean Rodeo and the Trail shop. Great turn out, and I got to try all the new '09 O.R. gear :D
It was light in the morning then the rain came, but in the afternoon it was great. Super impressed with the '09 14m RISE, I might have to add it to my quiver.

Last minute decision to return to Nitinat for the weekend. Didn't want the dairy bear to leave us with a bad taste of our last adventure to Nitinat.
'Brake down' right after the Mill Bay ferry in Duncan for an hour on the side of the highway. Sam kept saying 'daddy, GO to Nitinat'. Huge thanks to Jellyfish and WR for stopping and assisting, and delaying their sailing time at Nitinat for us.

Maui North weather ...... sailed til 7pm. Great to try the 77L Fish. I think I'm going to love this board. Put on the 5.3 Kult, jumped on and almost made a gybe on the first attempt in fairly low winds.
Yogi snooping around in the night for easy treats at the neighbours. He's getting picky ...... opening coolers and not taking anything. We just need to teach him to close the lid when he's finished looking.

Wind blew late that day so I was able to sneak in decent sesh on the big gear. Really enjoying ripping on the big stuff lately. A nice light rig would be sweet though - any kiters out there with a closet full of gear they need to unload? That windsurfing stuff takes up a lot of room :lol:

Got in @1, already 4.2 juiced @2, a blast w/ Eastside rippin' on 3.7. Then sun disappeared in the fog moving in, sandblasting started, got blown off the water @6. Kusschine buffeted most of the night, sand kept out for most part :D Waves blown flat @end, 5' swell, windwaves at peak around 12', in break only waist/shoulder hi. Lotsa lanes to get out this time, even blasting through most breaking waves no probs, got worked only once. 3 other riders out. STOKED....and tenderized.

Awoke to find that one of the local bears had emptied both our cold cooler and dry food box. He seemed to be needing a dairy fix as he ate 2 large bricks of cheese, a flat of small yogurts, a bag of cheese strings, and 4 cartons of milk. He seemed to like granola bars too as he polished most of those off as well. He was nice enough to slobber on the stuff he didn't eat. :x

A lot of campers packing up today, and the lake felt like 'off season' traffic conditions. Nice and sparse, but good power hour.
Jumped on the 118 Lt RRD and forced my front foot into the strap without a second thought. Sailed with rockin' Ray back and forth, while I was entertained by his freestyle moves. :lol:
Wind built, so, I gave W24/7's 90Lt JP board a try. I should have tried this earlier in the summer......it was smokin' fun.

Nice way to end my holiday. Arrived to see that eastside and indiandog were on 6.6m :shock:. I thought the wind was increasing so I rigged the 5.0, which was just sufficient at first, but turned out to be perfect for about an hour in the middle of my session. A late start, but came up quickly when it did, at around 2pm. Had fun mowing the 'Nitinat lawn'. Tacked successfully on the other side a few times.
Was 'chaperoned' by Jellyfish, Meiri and Ray V. sailing beside me yelling for me to put my feet in the footstraps. Got the front foot in. I'm finding it hard to commit, and risk ruining a good run. I'll keep trying.
Tried a few gybes, and ended up doing a helicopter gybe (I think) by accident on the other side.

Started out on the 12m in light conditions but smooooth.
The wind picked up after Joe and Speedy left, of course.
Changed to the 2009, 10m Rise. A bit light for a good test but lots of pull considering the wind speed. Seems to turn faster or differently. Comes across the "window" faster through the turn without any stalling or hesitation. It definitely flies closer to the edge of the wind window than the 08. Marathon bonus session on the 6.6. Could have been on a smaller sail most of the time but hey there's nothing wrong with a little/lot of speed. Environment canada came through....I always go with the most optimistic forecast. :? A few waves to start and then chop to end. I guess I should have gone to Long Beach yesterday.

Kinda lame. The wind died shortly after I got out :cry: Had to work it to plane. It was pretty light to begin with so not a huge disappointment.
SandyB had a good sesh while I did some dry land lessons with Jellyfish Jr. Another addict perhaps :lol:
