:D stoked up gordos sessions with the usual crazies. Big push of wind for the first bit, then good 4.2. Love the Evo/4.2 for looping - makes for fast rotations. Had front row view of a nice BWD loop  TheLaw ruining the swell with big spraying slashes. Doc-o-wind shuvits inspired me to try some. Not much shuving --Harder than looping for sure. We were all impressed with Pete's nose first jump landings -very cool.

In-law visit causing grief for getting more gordos days  - trying fo ... (more)

Super windy at first, then it mellowed a bit. Some good swell, lots of chop too. Doc with lots of backloops and shuvits, Mw doing some nice fwds, TheLaw and RDood slashing.

   Pipers was so big and near perfect today, I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw a fellow out there, who looked like he used to be a pretty hot sailor. But his legs were shaky and his arms seemed to be cramping a lot, and he had these really huge shaky jibes. Why for a moment I thought it was a man called Bean. I know that I must have been seeing things. Oh well, it sure was a nice day.

Who says the early bird gets the worm? Patience pays, I say. :D Got out from about 7-8:15 in the smoothest possible wind and water imaginable. Light, steady, warm cruising, with only Dave and Scott out (dave on his 9m!) Worked on some spins and broke in the new wetsuit. Would have liked more wind, but these days, I'll take what I can get. :)

:D :D :D :D Finally an evening with wind. Mostly light, but a few strong gusts had me planing right across the harbour, almost overpowered at times 39.4 kmph top speed. One planing gybe, another dry hair day. Perfect for the Kona. Came into the beach just as a cruise ship left (I'd been sailing right where it went) then went out behind it. Pumped like mad to stay well ahead of the Metlakatla ferry, too.

Fun session. A little cool first but then it warmed up. Tried a couple of fwds, tons of tacks, 360's ( one real close ), lots of duck jibe including one suicidal.

After the lady and da boyz left I went out for another microsession.

Rob Warwick and another guy put up a good show @ the end of the day. They should be banned from windsurfing because they are missrepresenting the sport. They make it look too easy. :D :D :D

Last day for Oregon trip #1 :( Arrived early with Doc, Steph and Ruskie to get some sailing in before running for the ferry. Had a great first hour with no crowds and nice little hucking ramps. Pretty mellow conditions but tried lots of fwds, vulcans and shuvits. Great fun. Wind got fluky in the afternoon.

First planing runs in far too long, in both straps in a little squall at the beginning of a rain shower. Finally a little fix! Did a tack in a lull on the far side of the harbour, popped the sail to get going on the new tack, and a bang up above I thought the mast had broken - but the mast was poking up 3 or 4 feet past the sail top. A long beat back in in flukey light winds, and I couldn't figure out what happened - the top plug seems to have pulled out somehow. Fixed it and drifted around for another ... (more)

Sailed with Rob D for a bit and saw him close on a very sweet pushy. So good to be back here in the Gorge. Thanks to Mike C for the loan of his harness after mine ble ... (more)

Started out perfect for the 4.7. Lots of shuvit attempts and some fwds. No crowds. Later it cranked up to 30+ and the 3.7 worked well for a few hours. More crowds and ok swell. Fun day.

    :D :o  :(

Yes, it was amazing to get out with Ross and John and actually have fun, though very short lived. Lucky if that was a half-hour before the wind backed off. And so much work, for so little time. But, honestly worth it since it's been so long! Didn't want to venture out again when it filled back in: once bitten twice shy.
