Got about an 8:30 start with BWD and we joined dawn patroller Ryan for a short bit before his exit. Tweezer showed up a little later and the swell party was on! Blowing pretty hard from the start 25ish, then constantly increased over the session. Some beauty big swells and when i finally got my act together got a few really nice long rides doing big giant slalom turns on the big faces heading towards the turret staircase. Intensified to 35+ and was getting really hard on the 4 (keep saying i've got to get a ... (more)

Very good session with solid wind and some waves. Confirmed forecast was accurate so took afternoon off work and hit Willows. Arrived to 14-17kts so rigged the 5.2m Flyer. Really love this sail because it has power almost like a 6.0m and depowers well. I had it flattened out today with some flop at the top. Sailed for an hour until the wind decided that I'd had enough. Hoping for more tomorrow.

Very nice (almost warm) weather and flat sea. Wind was off-shore and went from nothing to Gusty. The gusts came from every different direction. Good crowd. Lots of fun. A bit of a struggle to get back to the beach.

    Hail showers and sunshine!

11:30 followed MtnarG, HighRocker, Lance and Greg in a temperamental offshore session. Found more consistent wind in Mayor Channel south of the marina. Overpowered at times on the 5m. The extra meter of sail came in useful racing back to shore to escape the hail storm. Bobson joined in from CP with the familiar fly-by greetings "Whoooo! " It picked up again late afternoon, perfect for the 4m.

Challenging sailing for me today but always fun.

Great swell in the morning and once I upsized to the 3.5/1000 all was good. Even slightly warmish in the sun. That 800 sure takes a bit of speed to get flying. Came in for a work meeting at 1:30 and by the time it was done a big angry cloud arrived with hail and colder temps so that was it for me.

Had a short, but fantastic session in the warm sunshine with MtnarG, Lance, Greg, and Danno. My Cab6 was overpowered in the gusty conditions, but it was big enough to get me through the many holes in the bay. There were more consistent winds out past MTI, where Dannon was playing, but I feared the offshore wind. I had to cut my session short but the winds were lessening by then anyways. Almost a no-falls session, but pulling on a hole was my undoing.

Had a lovely drive in full on hail down to the beach. Then waited in the car for about 15min for the nastiness to subside. Finally got going and the sun started to peak out now and then. Pretty gusty, kinda cold, but some nice swell and always fun to fly!! Think it might have been better for the morning session peeps.

Great after work session, yes getting lighter later. Sweet!! A bit gusty but not horrible. Rigged bigger than I would normally have but using the big board and knowing there were some holes and not wanting to schlog decided to go 4.5m instead of the 3.7m which I would have gone with in that wind. Saw Danno and Greg (needs nickname) out there. Did 25 minutes and then saw a huge black cloud with white underneath it so headed in to warm fingers and wait it out. Smart! Really fun session. Shoulda put the straps on to jump but too lazy. Ripping 3m initially with big swell. Fun, fast 925 zippiness. BWD then lent me his MA1000. Good gawd what a fun foil. Had half the foil out on some turns and it just railed around with no weird bobbles or sketchiness. Damn, now I want one! Doesn't replace a HA for glide but the fun factor is really high for turns. Got to try Dave's 60L Armie board with the 1000 and new tail and Cab 3.5. Really nice set up, but I sink instantly on the 60L in ... (more)

Another big day in Dead Man's Cove. Very gusty. totally over powered on a 4m. Really need to get something smaller. Waves were big but messy. Picked a good day to try out the new (WindDoc's old) 5m KT wing. I'll probably always prefer a boom but some really nice, and better, qualities with this wing vs. the Slicks. I like how you can slide our front hand back on the front handle for take-off and it kind of falls off into the power slot and accelerates well there. Also got up to OP or almost OP and it's got a really nice feel to it, powers up like a nicely trimmed genoa. Felt well in control for the most part. Hard to get used to the handles ... (more)

Wade and I rushed off the water dangerously getting lofted slightly walking up the ramp.. fun session but so cold on fingers and foot.. Driftwood br ... (more)

Started on the 5m. Too much power. Switched to the 4m and had a couple of good sessions. The heavy rain showers passing by made it a bit challenging but still fun. Nice to see so many foilers show up.

Slightly colder than my last few sessions. Wind was up and down all day couldn't really get in the groove today after using rental gear and wind going from way overpowered with hail to not enough to foil with 4M and 999 to overpowered again with very little perfect in the middle. Good stoke though and lots of wings out.

First outing in a while. Spent the first half outside looking for ramps to try out the new advance crazy short fuse but not much there. Wind was up and down and was lit on the 4 at times but the smiling faces made up for it. Spent the second half riding the shore runners and that was better. Defiantly notice the pitch sensitivity heading upwind but can feel the responsiveness in turns.

11:30 Strong variable winds for most of my session. Good crowd out today, fun watching the excitement. Put in on the 4m and 1250cm in 22kts, just the right combo for a few reaches until it dropped to 15. I followed wiser foilers to upsail but opted to keep the 4m and switched to the larger front wing. By the time I got passed the kelp bed it was blowing 25+ again. Just don't know what to wear!

I thought I had a game at noon and figured I'd do a cool down after that. Canceled! Chilly fingers but some nice shoreline swell as the tide receded. Came in thinking I was done after an hour. ULR dragged me back out. Fingers were warmer for the second half. Good game! Put it down as W.

Waited till it felt somewhat warmer out. Went down to RB at noonish. Went with the 5M but didnt last long. First session was freezing and i just avoided falling in as much as possible. Came in pumped 3.5m and warmed up. Super fun 1.5 hours after that, hands felt good, was warm pumping hard on the little waves down by the first and second groyne. Loving the new board, progress seems to come easier on it... everybody seemed to pack it in early, but a straggler or two heading out when I was packing up.

Trying a different foil set up. The 1100/330 foils and the 95+ fuselage. Very different from the 115+ fuse. Turns sooo quickly. Can pump the board with back foot better. Wind was pretty up and down today with the storm cells coming through then sky clearing. Lots of Wangers out today even with the cooler temps. Think I might have even seen The Big One today. I forgot to restart the GPS watch twice today so only 1 hour of GPS time although pretty sure I was out there for close to 2 hours.

On the water about noon, a good crowd already on it or getting ready. It's cold and sun has disappeared, light flakes (not rain!). Some big wind moments, swell never really got organized considering how much wind there had been all morning. Did i mention cold! Had to hit the beach a couple times to "wing" the arms around and get some blood back in the hands. Still fun and totally worth it. Counted 14 wings on the water at one point (+Bobson). Big Wave Bobson out there today representing the traditional sail shape well.

Pat Bay was lit too, albeit flat, but had to pick up some used equipment from Ross Bay (thanks NS and Doc). Forgot rain jacket and thought I had DW gloves but didn't, and also had my 5/4 and not 6mil wetsuit, but ended up ok. Coming in to warm hands up once they were cold but not numb worked well. Came in later for a squall when it was 35ish and 4.0 was quite OP but it passed and dropped back to mostly good power.

Went out around 8am. Big winds, big unruly swell from multiple directions. gusty with 15 knot variables. Way too over-powered with my smallest sail (KT 4m). I need to go 3m or less in conditions like this morning, Went for two sessions back to back. Almost didn't go back in as I got my ass proper kicked in round 1. Decided to try one more time and had the best hour of the month. Things died down as I was leaving but still good.
