Started off sore but felt good once I warmed up. Smaller waves than yesterdays but still some great swell. Down low early and then up high later was pretty fun. Gusty NW mostly and then the wind shifted to WSW and it started to rain and slowly died and within 10min the waves were gone. Loving the 1000MA and that mast. Can't wait to get out again so I hope the arctic blast doesn't last long.

Blasting 30+ so borrowed a 25 year old soggy and salty roll of dacron tape from my dad to temp patch my 3.0. It held the ~10in incision from foil from a few weeks back. For one sessions anyways.
Was so awesome at first, the 3.0 Slick with that 890 BSC felt really controlled and balanced in what may have been nearer to 40 knots for a bit. Had mast a bit further forward as its been a bit too much back pressure since new rear foil. Couple hitches and way above Warrior Pt. Kept going out into the inlet a ... (more)

Deja vu Monday, just like Sunday. Rinse, repeat, same same fantastastico game! This time my watch ran out of battery, so shortened gps again. Wind and swell built throughout the session, again some big mackers and looooong swell rides down to St.Charles. Timed it perfectly to come off the water as it began to drizzle, cloud over and shutdown. Lots of wingers in attendance.

Fun family day shred. Tried all three foot straps and lasted one run as they seemed setup completely wrong. Changed them out and enjoyed a good hour of fun knee high waves on the 5m. Suddenly found myself OP'd and the swell picking up. Went in, pumped up the 3.5 and got back out there. Some of my longest rides handsdown. Followed BWD and URL around till they got annoyed with me and then found some of own waves.
Shred till ya dead.

Wrong choice today. Expected yesterdays conditions but got a lot less. Went to CP for flat water and foil testing but rigged too small and it never materialized. First 30 mins were okay. Rest was trying to get back to the launch. Ya live, ya learn. Should have touched it out at RB.

Had been a while since last wingage. Lured out on the 5.0 in a lull and got spanked, so downsized to 4. Fell in a shitload but had some glorious rides on good sized steep swell. Kelp minefield has thinned enough to navigate through.

11:30 Dozen wings and as many kites adding colour to the bay. Sailing on the edge of my comfort zone in gusty 25+kts and confused seas. Unfortunately, it took me most of the session to stop fighting the swell and work with it. My gear pairing needs work. Big swell to play in producing some fast down runs. Lots of stokes all around. Nice to see everyone out!
Same place same time tomorrow!

The chop carnage on the RB webcam terrified me so I headed to Willows. I noted Bobson doing mach chicken runs much further out. Despite being off foil for more than a week, the greatness of the winds let me get some sweet long runs. 45min on foil over a 72min total water time - 62% on foil! Pretty good for a newb. 7/10 conditions for me. 12-25kt W. The best winds were at MTI level, but I was leery of going out that far with the strong offshore winds. I was on Cab6 and was mostly overpowered, but I was used ... (more)

Arrived at noonish and took my time getting ready. Looked like lots of wind, swell, and stoke. First session on the new board 30L less volume and 9" shorter than the previous one. Decided on the 5m to have plenty of power to help with less volume. Lots of floundering to get going, but a real improvement once up. Looking forward to trying it more tomorrow.

Wind was offshore easy going out long swim back. Weather was much better than forecast sunny all day forecast was for flash floods.? Lots of fun rides but not really liking the foil Ozone 1500cm not very stable always wanted to be turning, tricky to jibe and flag out. Still nice to be out in beautiful warm blue green water. Saw a small shark while I was snorkelling just before I went out.

Felt like a Bobson out there with a 6.5 sail, a massive 150 l board, a 105 mast and a mega foil. Not even furious pumping was going to get me going. Had a nice tour anyway, up to the campground and way out. Had Ray's jumping beside me and a big school of them went right under the board.

CP - Part 2 - Ross Bay was too wavy so I decided CP would be flatter. Well, it was. A bit gusty but no big holes so all was good. Played in between Mary Tod and CP for 2 solid hours as I couldn't get enough. If I wasn't so lazy to come in and change my front foil I think I could have gotten some better speed runs but felt pretty quick even with the 1100 on there. I really have to stop being soooo god damn lazy. Anyways, a solid 2 hours of fun and didn't fall or miss any gybes. SWEEET!!
Hoping for maybe some ... (more)

I am glad I came down early and met Justin for a session. Tide was high but managed to get in and out on the windward side of the point with no issues. Nicely powered most of the time with some lulls. Found a few swell bits to ride and generally just had a blast on the surfboard. Wind started to pick up and I had had my fill, so I came in and called it a day. Great session.

After beating myself up at Ross Bay, I decided to follow Bobson over to Willows. Bobson, Ang, and Greg were out on the water. Pumped the 6m and had a very nice little session before going home. Flat water, gusty but manageable Offshore wind.

Not much wind close to shore, but lots further out. Started on the 6m, but overpowered so changed to the 5m. Wind picked up some more, so went to the 4m. 4m was good choice, but gusts and waves were a challenge for me. Packed it in early.

Massive session. Big swell, long rides. Elected to rig bigger than I expected and was happy to be just on the top end of ideal.
Lots of crashes but because of really pushing the rides, conditions were surprisingly manageable.

Put straps back on the board for some jumping and mounted the V tail to see how it feels with the 1225 and new mast. Some decent jumps landed and a bunch landed back on foil felt pretty cool. The longer mast really helps flinging my 200lbs+ carcass up into the air. V tail didn't have quite enough negative shim in it so my back leg was eventually burning. Think I prefer the chopped 232 with the 1225. Felt like I did a ton of pull ups hanging on the wing; much more tired than usual due to loading, popping and ... (more)

Sunday, 10am, Part 1 - Arrived to 15kts with MarkA out on his 3.5m. Looked lighter than that so rigged the 5.2m Flyer. Lasted 10 mins then came in for the 3.7m Goya as it ramped up quickly. Sailed for an hour as it got windier and wavier. Lots of Wingers showed up so I decided, since I was well outnumbered and the waves were bigger than I liked that I would head to Willows to continue this fine day.

Whew, another advanced day at RBFC! Awesome waves and occasionally nicely spaced swell, mixed with occasional steep halfpipes. Hard to judge from shore today so went with 4m and stuck with the 1010png. 4m was great, OP on the foil though, but kept with it anyways. Some fun 'holy s%#*' runs and occasional relaxed carving rides dodging the ruins of the great wall of kelp.
Awesome to see The Doctor doing jumps.
9 wings and 9 kites when I packed up.
Almost stopped at Pat Bay on the way home as it was ... (more)
