Mistral Shift 99L Neil Pryde Combat Wave 5.8

Thought I'd finally start my log. I was desperate to get out on the water, so I risked the light east winds, and was pleasantly surprised. Mostly slogging, but the occasional gust would propel me onto a plane - even enough for a few tiny chop hops and carving gybes. The new Mistral Shift's (ex Windsurfish/Janetfish) 99 litres helped, especially when combined with my 62 kg. The Shift has a fair bit of rocker, but still pops onto a plane fairly easily with some gentle coaxing. I like the comfortable Combat. Had a problem rigging the new used gear: the Chinook base won't fit in the Neil Pryde X9 mast (collar too big). Luckily I had my old Windsure base as backup. I'll have to think of a solution.
This may sound surprising, but this was my longest session in 10 years, maybe more. I've been away from the coast too long.
