Cool. It's on my radar since it seems like anything under 10-12kts I want to SUP sail and up to 20kts I want to foil but I don't want a huge pile of boards.
I guess I just need to wait and see if one comes available.

Re: Naish crossover

Hi!!! Yes have the 120 l hover.not feeling the love yet on foil tho,so can't give a critique on board. I like it tho.fun in waves, nice to have smaller sup board. I did just order the 1050 naish front wing. Hoping it will be easier. Fun to sup. I go left sometimes, before covid, Tony. Yours has the...

Well I struggle to go right so maybe it would even things out.

Maybe I'm thinking of MF4 who has the Hover 122? I know I rode somebody's as a windfoil one day. Mainly curious how it works as a WindSUP in small waves.

Naish Crossover

I'm curious who is locally owns one of these 3-in-1 SUP/Foil/Windfoil boards? I know I saw one at Ross Bay recently and I wanted to get some input from an owner. Specifically if they actually work without a foil for SUP.

Rig minimum downhaul to get better shape from wave sails. I foil with HSM Qu4ds all the time like that.

Elix is doing some interesting things in the race workd:

Starting to look a lot like a miniature Moth dinghy. No idea if it'll perform better than a typical wide Formula style board.

From what I've read down winding with a handheld wing only works with at least 10mph more wind than board speed otherwise the wing won't float. That'll take a slow foil and windy day, +20kts for sure.
Lots of guys on seabreese forums are riding swell with zero power in the sail windfoiling though.

Foil boards are designed put enough volume under your feet so you can pump them from the flying position before they hit planing speed. They do this by being thick and/or wide. Wide tails are actually more efficient when planing, but they don't turn or gybe well. That's not a factor when up on the f...

It's surfing breaking waves, you'll outrun windswell once you turn down it with any real speed. You can sort of get a turn or two at Cook St or IV on a big day but they are pretty hectic places when it's working and the shore break at both can be savage at high tide. Once you get a solid waterstart ...

I grew up sailing keel boats and dinghies. Foiling does offer a similar (but better) sensation of efficiency and being able to go places.

However getting on a wave is FAR better, and I've only scratched the surface of wave sailing.

The big volume race boards are designed to get going in the least possible wind and also maintain speed in the tack. They are a pain to pack around and get to be a handful in the kind of wind we get in Victoria basically all the time. I can think of perhaps a few times a year when I wish I had a rac...

Fun on a winter Northerly if you have a foil/big gear and a warm suit.
