Grant it must be way easier because the sail and spars always drag. I had no idea about the prone paddling until I saw a video of Robbie Naish's daughter paddling straight upwind to launch. Wing is out of the water clamped between the paddlers feet with bent knees (even that would be tiring after ...

The small board/sinker guys seem to indicate that they are prone paddled easier than bigger boards.
Can't be any harder than towing in my windsurfing waveboards which I've done many times.

I rode the 68 for 2 years before buying the 76.
They are very similar wings in terms of early lift except the 68 tops out a bit sooner and is more pitch sensitive.

I haven't ridden the 84 but from what I've heard its extremely pitch stable so that is likely to be a significant adjustment.

I agree it's not a big deal unless the rig does a flip which can send the board downwind fast, but then it usually stops.

In breaking waves it can take some effort to catch the gear.

If I was starting all over again here in Victoria I'd probably go the Wingfoil route like BWD mentioned.

I'm getting my kids started windsurfing but only because I already have a garage full of gear for them.

~5.0 to start for sure. Many adults on the Island use that as a largest size.

The plate was built to just rest on top of a Slingshot Chinook medium tuttle head and make it work in my board. I basically shimmed it to have a friction fit on the SB deep tuttle head. Not really very pretty. If I were to cast a head I'd probably build a "dam" around it then make the load plate ...

I'm kind of an edge case in that I built a load spreading plate and am using it in a shallow tuttle board. Any engineer would cringe looking at it, none of the tapers are engaged. I wish I could buy the flanged mast head they offer on the Freeride. That would give a much better base for my load ...

Does the plastic top just pull off? I thought mine was bonded on (same foil).

I'll have to give that a try with them this week. If its not too weedy I might foil a bit too.

Is it gusty like Ross Bay or Elk Lake? Does the water warm up much?

Other than Nitnat and Elk Lake is there a place that is worth bringing complete beginners/kids to try windsurfing? We went to the North end of Elk recently and the amount of swimmers made it almost impossible. I was going to try the rowing club beach next but I think it'll be even more gusty. High ...
