Well travelled areas.
Question: do the kite school boats normally start where they will work their way down through othe sailors and kiters in an equal amount, or do they tend to start where they will quickly be in the most travelled sailboard lanes, then moving down to the lower lake? If so, it could be suggested they (...

CGeese and Goslings at Gordons/Tugwell
This year Tugwell Creek has formed into a pond between the road bridge and the rigging/launching area. Water motion is very slow or nearly calm at the surface, so it is ideal for Geese and other waterfowl. Up to 50 Canada Geese are using this area currently, mainly on the beach side. People entering...

Dinghy or Cat to Sell/Share/Lease
Does anyone have or know of a sailing dinghy or small boat, or catamaran, available for sale, or to share owners, or to lease now and then for a few weeks?

Andrei was one of those people who could seam together all of the things that make a good group of friends, and we are lucky all of us to have known him, even though this community reaches through so many experiences. He will always have a home in our memories, as I can see him smiling now, standing...

wind animation
would be cool if the arrows on the island, and south island maps, could be animated, to show wind strength projecting out to gust strength...might give a feel to how the wind is pushing around out there, even though some of the reporting stations may not include gust strengths

RV Park Sailing Access
Does anyone with good knowledge of vancouver island sail/kite spots, also have knowledge of nearby RV parks, or even better, RV parks that are within sailing/walking distance of a regular launch?

The trail is open again after an afternoon of work. Yes, there's new erosion on the river bank, but a new trail piece has been treaded down and now cleared to make it nice and easy. Through the big blowdown area there were a few new falls, but nothing serious. It's clear all the way through, and jus...

99% of the loaded/stressed or unstressed logs are already cut, as of last fall, and the trail was open with just a few walkover logs. Most of the blowdown sat for years without anyone cutting in there, so not much danger of people rushing in with a chain saw to get themselves hurt now. If you have s...

Trekking the River Loop
Last year the river loop trail behind nitinaht campground was reopened with chain and bucksaw, so it's possible again to walk through that huge "blowdown" area that once before was a quiet trail through the forest. If anyone is interested in bringing it back to more smooth walking or bike ...
