Of those choices, I'd go with the Slick. Has a boom, grunty, fast, pulled in tips, newer shape based on what they've already learned. As a windsurfer, you'll like the boom right away. Handles help make a wing lighter/more agile for surfing/drifting, but a boom offers more advantages in handling as y...

Hey Tony! I've tried 2 of the protos but they have moved on in design from what I've ridden so any feedback I have at the moment will be dated. What I can tell you is the protos felt very light, drifted well, and OR has some exciting features planned ahead based around the new materials and "ma...

Tails make a HUGE difference in foil behaviour. 300 will be better for low end and stability. The 232 tail feels smaller and is much more lively. TC 60 fuse will offer more performance than 70 for winging in long run but is less stable. I'd go with the 60 since fuses are $$$ and you'll want the 60 a...

Re: More wingfoiling questions

Keith, to answer some of your questions: "And why did Quattro call it a "drifter"....which brings up my question re schlogging on a wing. If I schlog on my Fanatic Blast Foil windsurf board, cause it's 145L and the foil acts like a huge fin, it's easy to bury the windward rail and get...

Re: Windfoiling

Slightly off topic but... Winddoc do you think the HS1850 would cross over to windfoiling as a dual purpose wing or would it be too slow? Armstrong doesn't seem very interested in windfoiling, too bad as as crossover wing would take some of the bite out of the pocket book and their foils look sexy ...

Re: Wing foiling gear questions

Ok....just read both Wing Foil forum discussions. A couple of questions. Looking to potentially get into Wing Foiling....really only if it makes sense for a watersport in the lighter wind areas where I hang out in summers....eg we stay on waterfront at Hornby Island most of July and Kootenay Lake m...

My caveman understanding of foils: High aspect foils: Usually thinner profile, require higher speed to get up and flying, but once there will have higher top speed/less drag, higher stall speed threshold (gotta keep 'em movin'), more instability at lower speeds, less ability to roll/change direction...

Bigger board will have you progressing SO much faster. I'm guilty of wanting to go too small too fast before each step is dialled. Smaller will be better for jumping and liveliness but a big board offers more advantages than disadvantages for the first 6 months of learning, especially in our cold ai...

Ozone V2. Love how they show men and women ripping as well as a kid. Least dorky wing promo vid I've seen. 👏.

Does anyone have any of the newer wings that have the much narrower leading edge/bladder? If so how do you like? They appear much more efficient than the gigantic 6”+ ones. I couldn’t find ULR’s previous mention of the retractable waist leash, does anyone have a link for where to get those? Anyone ...

TLDR edition: Onward with progression: I picked up a 77L board (I'm 6.5 and close to 210 in rubber) and rode it for the first time Sunday. 1st run out I got up relatively easily in flat water and cockily beelined it for the swell line. Stance felt weird on the board initially but it was working well...

Regarding Y handles; I use them quite a bit and wonder why some companies don't include them (other than weight savings?). Going upwind overpowered they really help settle the wing and allow you to bleed excess power a little easier than the strut handles alone. They also allow you to change the mus...

... Did get an HS 1850 kit, ordered an 85 cm mast with it, but the standard 72 cm showed up. I think of superdave's earlier comment: "Either choice is the right one for your first season of wing foiling.". I figure I just keep it. Going to have easy access to a lake and planning on towing...
