https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=8AKXqEVMc-U Foiling in 7 knots flat water with 6m wing. Lake Pupuke, Takapuna, NZ. That's impressive, with only a 1500cm2 front wing and a small board. I still struggle in really light winds. Sabfoil just came out with a massive new front wing, the WL 1550. https://you...

Thanks Juandesooka! I just checked out those surfskate brands, that looks like the way to go for wing practice. Carver even has a Kai Lenny board. :D

Re: Skateboard for winging practice

I've used a longboard and a little short one, short one was more fun unless you have a really large area and want to built up speed. Tacks are much less scary than gybes. Thanks Grant, the main purpose would be to practice tacks. I have a small area in front of my house so maybe I'll try on a small...

Skateboard for winging practice

Does anyone use a skateboard for winging practice? I'm thinking about getting a longboard but does anyone have any recommendations? I haven't been on a skateboard in 40 years so have no idea what to get. I've seen a wing skate but don't really want to spend that much. https://www.mackiteboarding.com...

One of the upsides of using footstarps, breach recovery! Fun at Nitinat Lake.

I've had this happen a few times. The last time was with a brand new front wing and stab. A few times it was from a small piece of eelgrass.

Those look interesting. I've been looking for something like this, but was looking for something that doesn't rust.

Re: hand placement

I am using a Starboard 5.0 that has 5 hand loops. For whatever reason I've been using handles 1 and 5, with both hands facing the same way - Is it the FreeWing air? I have the 5.0 and use handles 4 and 2. Try switching your front hand before you jibe to an underhanded grip. When you get used to it ...

Can confirm! New wing, used for about 10 minutes before this happened.
I hope North Sails has that colour orange for the repair.

Re: KT Wing Air

Maiden voyage on the 5.0 KT Wing Air this morning. Like both Winddoc and Dave, I'm stoked! Actually really liked the handles, the loop handles on my Airush crush my hands and have given me a bit of tendonitis, which was one reason I wanted to go with the boom on the Slick, but these feel like the be...

I thought about this as well. I find myself always lifting and checking around anyways, hopefully I didn't miss them too much.
Hoping to try mine tomorrow or Monday!

Re: KT Wing Air

I never had any issues with knuckle-rubbing on the strut when I tried one. I HATE having knuckle rub. That's good to hear! Hopefully tomorrow I can give them a test flight. Tsawwassen: just curious why you're moving away from the Slick. Why you leaving me all alone with the Slicks? [-( A few reason...
