Random piece of advice from a newbie wingfoiler: I am realizing that the advice of getting some towed "foil time" (ski or boat) is gold. And wear a PFD or impact vest to protect ze ribs. I figured this out the hard way a week or two back after a few violent "wheelies" in 30kn win...

Impact vest input

OK so I am a newbie to "wing foiling". I would say that what I am currently doing right now is closer to "wing flailing". A couple of nasty wipeouts yesterday has made me realize that an impact vest might not be a bad idea. Mainly for rib/sternum protection (falling on side of bo...

Kite self rescue

For those that might need a refresher (!) here is an excellent vid summarizing key steps for self rescue: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ze0a24YKN6I Especially the last part about being able to create a sail with the kite. Being able to do this efficiently creates less hassle/concern on shore and i...

Thanks, figured as much. Your advice makes total sense.

Seems to me that this sport is about as friendly a method as possible to learn basic foiling skills?

Bummer dude. The wind direction was quite westerly yesterday (I SUPed downwind from Ogden to Clover yesterday at about noon) so wouldn't surprise me if it ended up in Haro Strait.
