Re: How much Wind is needed to Wingfoil
Wingfoil: I can usually get going in 10-12knots with my 5m wing and my 1430cm2 Axis 1010 wing and 90l board. Maybe slightly less wind on ULR's Axis 1150 (1700cm2). Different wings seem to have a little different low ends and pumpability (and their quoted sizes vary make to make). Same for foils. You...

Re: GPS Tracking how to's
The manual indicated you could use the watch to collect GPS data without your phone. Apple watch is the same. I can start and stop data logging without my phone and it syncs to the phone when back in range.
Happy logging!

Re: GPS Tracking how to's
I don't know anything about the GT2, but any mode that will record GPS coords every 1 or 2 seconds will work. I expect an outdoor run or cycle mode would do that. (The manual I found online didn't indicate the differences between run, walk, or cycle modes.) Then export your track to a gpx file and u...

Re: Which wing foil for 10-18 knots?
On the light wind winging note: I'm having a ton of fun goofing around in light wind (10-12ish) trying tacks, 360s, freestyle stuff. Perfect wind strength for trying new stuff on the right foil (I'm mainly using axis 1010-1430cm2 on a 90l board with a 5m wing, weigh 75kg). Definitely more work to pu...

GPS Tracks
I thought I'd post some info about what I use for recording and uploading GPS Tracks using Dave's new BWD.ca features! I use my Apple Watch series 5 to record my tracks. I've used both Strava and Waterspeed apps. Waterspeed is more water activity minded and more stats are built in for speeds. It has...

I wonder if acceleration is faster though on a shorter fuselage with the ability to pump at a higher frequency. That might be better in waves to quickly adjust wave position. Wave Thief was testing endurance and a lower natural frequency of a longer fuselage makes sense. I wonder how far you could l...

Favourite Starboard foil setup for windfoiling
My favourite Starboard foil setup for 15+ knots and wave riding is the 1000 front, 330 rear, 75 fuse on the foilx105 with a 4.5 Flyer. As the wind gets past 20 I switch down to the revo 3.5 which will take me up to 35-40 knots. Could use a smaller rig for 35+ but I don't have one so I make do with t...

do it all?
Best to have a system that allows foil further back for windfoiling and foil forward for winging. For some manufacturers this means tuttle at the back and track forward as the picture of the starboard appears. The weight of the rig on the windfoil means you need to stand about a foot length further ...

tendon broke
AJ, I had my tendon UJ break on me a month ago while uphauling the sail. The safety lines held well enough for me to shlog in. 30 feet from shore my safety line came undone! So yes it does happen. I should've checked both the UJ condition and the safety lines before going out. I do carry an extra do...
