Foiling

Hey Dallas, Nice to see you are foiling! Haha My quiver down to just a Foil board and my 96L Fanatic Freewave tri-fin. Way less stress just packing two boards. Taking my foil set up to Hornby next week. Wouldn’t usually even get to sail there in summer, but with a foil set up most summer days are br...

Foiling

First real day foiling. Winds were light...9-12? Researched lots....came up with the following “specs”, mostly by looking at the custom foil board being used by Bruce Peterson: Board should be approx. 235cmx77cm and 130-145L (120L ok but makes learning tougher), Mast base should (must) be 43” in fro...

Smoke at the Lake

Smoke is bad and not fun to breath. Check. I’ve been slagged on here for being off topic.....please can someone answer the OP’s question. Is it smoky at the Lake right now (Aug 21, 2018) and if so, what is the approx. wind speed/sail size/kite size? I’m heading there tomorrow after postponing for a ...

Foiling

Time to chime in. Caveat….I haven’t foiled much and as a prof not knowing a subject has never ever stopped me talking about it. Haha. I was down in the Gorge recently, with lots of cash in hand from selling the Slingshot foil and a couple of SUPS… I didn’t buy anything….shocker for me….but too many ...

Ski Season

yup, even Mount Baker staff was caught off-guard with this update, their anticipatory-drool is now adding to the snowpack... Last season was very good, and it was a top 3 ever snowfall, I think, possibly another top snowfall this coming season. KC7777, commentary ? We're gonna need much bigger skis...

Bonaire? Rec a good place to stay or just go to Maui or ?

Hey,

Looking at maybe Bonaire for 2 weeks in early December as a combo dive and windsurf holiday? I am just getting my dive ticket and also want a good place for beginner/intermediate windsurf lessons for Dagne?

Or maybe just go to Maui?

Any suggestions on good places to stay in Bonaire?

Foiling

So, I am at Kootenay Lake. Foil is set up on my 135L Roberts with the 24" Slingshot mast. And 5.3M Revo But it's dead calm. Haha. I did slog out in 1 knot and back. Getting in lots of waterskiing and mtn biking instead. Good news is I can now deep water start on a single slalom ski! Couldn't do...

i don't know much (anything) about foil riding, but that box does seem pretty far back. i know some of the sup board conversions i saw guys were installing the deep tuttles forward of the existing us box. but that was for downwind paddling and surfing not windsurfing. anyhoo good luck with the expe...

Foil setup

Finally got around to setting up my Slingshot light wind foil. Board is a $250 bomb-proof, Roberts 27", approx 130-135L, with a deep tuttle box. I also have the powerplate to mount on a power box board like my Fanatic FreeWave...once I figure it out. Bummed I am still waiting on the 20" ma...

Foil

Good point Gord.

Already thought of that. The guys in the Gorge are tying a bit of kite line around the top of the foil mast and then around up to a back foot strap.

Foil

Ok... So I haven't tried this foil yet. Was waiting on the 20" mast (backordered) as it is supposed to be easier to learn on than the 32" mast. I also was trying to source a cheap, wide board so I don't wreck my Fanatics. Found this board in Chilliwack (27"/75 cm wide, approx 140L) .....

Foil

Hey, Disregard post above. Haha. Rationale. Was in the Gorge last week. Sold some masts at Windance and had a store credit. Saw a kid on a 100L Starbord ripping on this with a 4.0M. Spending lots of time at Kootenay Lake this summer....it's breezy there. And Lambert Channel between Hornby and Denman...
