Also, I like everything about the armstrong boards, don't even care that they're as expensive as a custom. But no bottom carry handle is a 100% deal breaker if you want to keep your foil and wing from touching anything other than air or water. Especially each other. It's amazing anyone produces a f...

Booms seem to be a preference thing. Popular with ex-windsurfers because it's a boom! or because you tried it/learnt on one and liked it. Never tried them, never wanted too. One more thing to screw around with, pack, setup. Don't think there is anyone local with the Duotone Echo (boom), Landon has t...

It's mostly foil size and wing size for your given weight coupled with pumping technique for the low end to get flying. It is nice to have board volume at = or greater than your weight to be able to schlog around or get to land if very light wind. I for example have to sometimes prone paddle out to ...

...trying to choose between a Fanatic Sky Wing and Armstrong Wing Foil Sup. Dilemma is I'm 6'2" and 83 kg (without a wetsuit) and not sure if I go with the biggest boards or step down. Options on the former are 5'8" 110 L or 6'0" 130 L and the latter 5'11" 99 L or 6'6" 130 ...

Tucker does a great review on harness lines here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iHL8AycgDTc His lines are very wide and floppy with them biased forward (he rides one handed by dropping the front). I would have thought that a stiffer mono line biased to the rear would be better. Grant, you'd proba...

Ok, so after 2 hours yesterday my arms were toast. I am thinking of getting a waist harness to ease the load and be able to crank upwind more so I can do more downwind runs without worrying about losing too much ground. ... I just replied to a similar thread on standupzone "I do daily quick up...

Preparation Basics: 1. Always unroll your wing out so there are no folds or twists on leading edge strut (bladders) before pumping it up. You can cause the bladder to overpressure and pop if crimped while pumping up 2. Always tether the wing to your pump leash while pumping up. Once inflated, takin...

I think I was the 1st (?) person on the Island to have a wing in August of 2019. It was the only "production" wing available at the time, in very limited amount and in big demand, a Naish 4.0m. I coupled that with my existing 6'6", 116 lt - Blue Planet SUP Foil board and BP Easy Foile...

Agree with all being said for positioning and weighting. The one other consideration seems to be that the offset position is used more by those with very large foils (wingspan & area), to be able to "balance" the foil and actually get leverage for turning/trimming and to some extent th...

Think safe, do a quick pre-flight assessment of equipment. Check all your lines, u-joints, pins/clips, strap screws etc. Wear a helmet. It all goes bad and dark quickly in the winter. Let someone know where you're sailing and when you expect to be home. I use a small fanny pack attached to the back...

Grantmac - As I said inflatables (not just HIPE) tend to be quite heavier in the 6' +. I'm certainly not knocking the HIPE, or saying they're heavy, it was inflatables relative to hard boards, and not just directed at the HIPE. E.g. Gong Hipe 5'3 110 lt 6.9kg; Gong Lemon 5'2 120 lt 6.1kg, Gong Flint...

That's awesome Marty! I found the same when I went to my Fanatic Sky Wing 5'0 75 lt from my 6'6 116 lt. My board is -10 lt (i'm 85kg). Similar to you, as long as I have some wind for the wing to stabilize me I can get on to my knees on the board and with enough (~ 6-8 kn) I can stand and balance or ...

Does anyone have any of the new wingfoil specific inflatable boards? Interested to hear/see how those work out. Considering you're on the foil hopefully most of the time, and assuming its nice an reinforced down the middle, seems like the weight savings vs a rigid board would make it a great option...

Well, like GrantMac said Patrice is just talking/relating to what Gong sells product for, not all the others. e.g. a full package (board, wing, foil), excellent for beginner - intermediate (and probably advanced!) 1225 Eu + shipping, approx $1900 Cdn PACK - WING PLUS HIPE € 1,225.79 GONG WING PLUS -...
