Came across this the other day on the Gong site, I had seen it before but forgot about it. It's from Gong's founder Patrice who is quite an interesting character the more you read or see his interviews of him. Below he expounds about the reasons for liking winging... "Why do we like the Wing? T...

Well I jumped in with both feet. Bought a Gong Hipe 5.3 110L inflatable and their 1900cm2 medium aspect foil then found a 6m Wasp for sale used stateside. I should be winging in around a month. Now I guess I need a pump?! The board should be okay at my weight but if need be I can use my current win...

OK, so this is a really cool video for many reasons. The guy is big - 88kg (dry, maybe more after his burger and fries, he says :D ). He's on a very small board (70 lt) in very low wind (<8kn maybe??), and he shows us the "cork pump" technique to get flying. Basically, instead of porpoisin...

I'm biased as whether it's worth it as I'm hooked and committed to all conditions for winging! Like any wind sport, it's a combo of your size, skill, and equipment. Not sure what you're asking, do you want to learn and stay in those conditions? Very light wind makes any size challenging to learn on,...

Hi Mike, not sure if there is anyone who can help. There used to be a windsurf rental place on parksville beach but not sure where He (Kevin) went. I live in San Pareil so chances are if it's windy I'll be sailing. Not really willing to rent out my personal kit. Not sure what you're looking for/abi...

It's that place that can't be named (liked Voldemort..oops), for fear of reprisals by unruly bands of "local" surfers who feel only they belong. Same reason there's never been a cam, it would have to be replaced weekly. The clue is it's west of Gordon's.

I don't think any of the carbon foil masts have come in lighter than the alu's that I'm aware of, could be wrong. Many forum comments have said the alu's seem stiffer and same weight. So, yeah not seeing a big advantage other than sinking/losing.

A detailed discussion about the Gong HIPE board, it's design, function, features, where it fits in the lineup etc, plus some nice video. It apparently has had over 5 months water time testing/refinement (Dec 19') with excellent results so far https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=1085&v=1X...
