I am at Brookings 30 km south of Pistol, will start to work my way north. Let me know if you want to meet on the beach.

@Kus. Your Jesus road shortcut 42s was horrible for my rig... But I had to find out for myself. The coast sure looks very inviting.:)

I head to Pistol on Thursday. may stay to weekend, weather permitting. Where is the launch point? Or is it a no brainer?

From Gold Beach head south on 101... about 3 km south of town you start heading up a massive never ending uphill which turns into a massive never ending downhill, at the very bottom of that hill is a pull out - This is "The Cape (Sebastion)". Hop back in your car and continue south on 101 for another 1 km or so and you'll see another pull out on the right, this time gravel, with a sign indicating it is Pistol River State park - This is Pistol River.

Be sure to try the red bean and beef burritos at McKays (I eat 3 per day, everyday), coffe is best at Rachels Coffee house inside the big bookstore (try their scones, not like normal ones, sweet and tasty, best ever), and though the photos you may have seen of the infamous "bomber burrito" may have been tempting, hit the mexican place nearly across from the fairgrounds.

We camp at the fairgrounds, cheap and qiuet. If I were to stay in a hotel, the Inn of the Beachcomber supported the Wave Bash big time and people gave it good reviews, or there are the nice looking cottages by the (insert name) river south of town just before you start heading up the big hill. Oh - the pizza place on the west side of the highway across from the seastar is good, but the staff get mixed reviews.
